Why do most of the men who e-mail me want me to e-mail them at another e-mail address? What's wrong with just continuing to use the e-mail system here that we are already using? Is it some kind of scam or attempt to get my personal information?

Yes, it is a scam. Report them as such. You can click on report abuse at the bottom of the email page.

Beware when they do that and ask you contact them on a another email !!!
They are going to want to send you a pic of their penis or ask you for naked pics, maybe stalk you and find out where you live !
If they are not willing to chat on the site, look out ! You have a pervert for sure !
He also may not be at all what he seems from his profile. In my area someone was just arrested on over 20 felony counts pretending to be his son, while he did this from his home and a wheelchair ! He could also be a hacker and want in your sysytem to gain access to your bank account, credit cards or credit to use for a shopping spree. He could be anyone and up to anything. To sum it up, don't go to another site, wahoo email addy or out there in cyberspace to contact them back... when they email you and direct you that way and to do so. period.

it's sad but that is just how it is....

Sure, but that's AFTER you've exchanged a good deal of "normal" emails here through MD's email system. Not from the first "introduction".

dooney, lately we have all been getting spammed and scammed by nonsense emails. I got two more today but they were "cancelled" before I knew I got them Just be careful and use your delete and block button whenever you receive these, it will probably quiet down soon.

I would have to agree. Do not give your email address out right away, or your IM handle. If the guy is not willing to get to know you here, then move on. You need to protect yourself from garbage. Normally they are trying to build databases of addresses to sell to spammers. Semi harmless but still a pain in the butt. Some may have more nefarious motives. You just don't know, so get a feel for them here first and see if they seem normal...not a crazy ect. then go from there. However eventually it does make it easier to IM and email with a regular address.

they aren't all spam/scams, but a lot of them are. anyone who has a real interest and is aboveboard will have no problem emailing through this site for awhile. it free for everybody to do so and its safer that way

i post my email(s) immediately to whomever i contact. it is my way of assuring a "potential" that i am as close to real as i can get. i want a "real" address so that i am assured that she is also as real as possible. the match games are the easiest way of scamming a person. it is very hard to do now-a-days at yahoo or MSN/hotmail unless!! you have a fake I D there. fake I D s are becoming very hard to do at the major I S P s. of course, for the elite hacker all is possible here. LOL

I'm not sure what the big deal is on using an e-addy, they're free, just get one to use for this if you're concerned. Email is a lot easier to use than MD 'cause:
1. sometimes it takes MD over 3 hours to notify you you have a new letter
2. some people don't like logging on to personal sites from work.

I wish I could agree with you but I met a man on here,,,,we talked for about a month or more on here and decided to meet,,,,bad mistake,,,,,,,just because you talk for a while and get to know the person on here,,,they still may not be what they seem,,,,lesson learned

I don't really understand the big deal about giving out an email address...I mean it isn't like you've given someone your home address and they're gonna show up at your door or somthin. Sheesh! Am I missin something here??

if you give out your email address to one of the overseas scammers, they may sell your email address to a wholesale junkmailer if they don't convince you to fall for their deals. they can also sometimes tell what your local internet provider is through the header. some people would rather keep that private until they know the person better.

but you also have to remember that not everyone who asks for an email is a scammer! just be aware of red flags (such as "my family all died and i'm working in west africa" and "i love you, i love your structure, i live city of the toronto, new york in united states america", lol)
