Do you find your kids to be an obstacle when it comes to finding a mate in your lifeā¦.that wants more from you that just sex ?

They did before they graduated from high school. All my energy and everything in me was with them. I didn't have time for outside interference.

I think the word, "obstacle" has a negative flavor to it. If you start thinking of kids in that regard - as something between you and your desires - you're putting yourself in a position where you might start to resent them. That seems unfair.
I would say though, that I think having kids makes you more careful about new relationships. There's certainly more complexity, and a lot more at stake, when you're responsible for more than just yourself.

An obstacle? No....A filter? Definately. My kids are part of me. And if a lady doesn't like my kids, well then she can take a long walk on a short pier. Just the simple fact. I have always accepted someone else's kids, maybe not always their behavior but definately accepted them. But I have not always had the same courtesy returned.

if you enter a relationship when the other person has kids ya gotta know it's a package not just him or her kids are great never shyed away because of them.
