I am not quite sure how to interpret this.
My date bought me a man purse for Christmas.
I don't know what else to call it. It is quite sturdy, with lots of zippers and compartments, a shoulder strap, and places for all my stuff. Even a little compartment for lip gloss. Room in there for everything but a spare pair of heels
Is she trying to tell me something?

i recently replaced my 30 y/o backpack for a filson messenger bag. it holds my cameras, laptop and has enough room for an overnight. it is so not a purse. no room for storage on the harley, bags might slow it down....

"man bags" aren't taboo anymore, i see tons of men who have them. they were taboo up until a few years ago, now they're kind of fashionable.
a lot of guys i know carry messenger bags, which are kind of like that.

Actually some of those are awfully handy little items. I too was given one as a present a while back while living out in Hawaii. I don't use it often, but have on occasion where there's a particular need. There's a pocket for just about everything imaginable..
More often I use a relatively small soft briefcase/backpack kinda thingie. But I wouldn't mind if the idea caught on, which it never really has, at least in my current neck of the woods. I'm just not much of an ice-breaker in terms of fashion. Except maybe in hats and boots and geetars.
I do wish though that guys would get rid of the long-lived trend for baggy jeans. Ugh!! You can hardly even buy jeans that actually fit anymore.

Um....if I remember correctly, you're the guy that posted about the fantastic ladies' boots you were wearing. I would imagine your date thought a man purse would be the perfect accessory to the boots.

Whoooo me Annie???
No ladies boots would ever fit these major clodhoppers!! Talk about a solid foundation.. But they keep me upright in a pinch, at least..

Oh gosh MM...not YOU!
I was speaking to the original poster. Last year he posted a thread about the fantastic ladies boots he had found, high heels and all, which started a lot of "cute boots" comments throughout the threads.
Yup...those clodhoppers seem to be your style MM.....and that's not a bad thing for a guy!

I wish men would start carrying purses. We women could then carry smaller ones, since we wouldn't have to carry all the crap they hand us and say put that in your purse.

I was getting rid of some things from my closet and my ex stopped by. He said he knew someone who would like the purse I was tossing out. Last week, my daughter and I picked him up from his place to go to my grandson's birthday party and he had.....the purse! It is definitely not a man purse, but he was using it. Oh well...I'm glad it came in handy for someone! LOL

I wish man-purses had been popular a number of years back when I told my husband the plane tickets wouldn't fit in my (tiny little) purse. I assumed he'd picked them up from the kitchen table and slipped them into his inside jacket pocket (one of those manly convenieces that they don't build into clothes anymore)
Well he and his friend who had brought us to Kennedy definitely broke records that day. I still have no clue how they did the round trip to Connecticut and back in that short time and we still made our flight.
I used to see guys with "bags" in the Northeast and Florida, but since moving to this neck of the woods -- nada. Not a briefcase, hardly a backpack...but plenty of cammo jackets with pockets stuffed to the gills. What ARE they carrying around with them that could be THAT important?
