finally met someone i really clicked with - and after two dates i found out (on my own - he didn't tell me) that he lied about his age. the site we met on has one age - and another 'community' site we're both on has another.

i want to ask him about it but not sure how to go about it. he told me 31 the other site says 36 - which isn't bad at all - but why lie about it?

should i just blurt it out and ask - or lead into it if possible?

I never quite understood why guys would do that... Similar thing happened to me. Too long a story to type.

What I did was sent him an email that, among other stuff contained a sufficient number of F words, told him to not even dream of contacting me again and that was that.

That was after I realized he lied to my face about his age. It was only 4 years. Why would anyone lie about 4 years is completely beyond me.

he told me 31 - another site says 36 and my cut off is 38 which he knew - so i dont see the point either. on one hand it doesn't bother me a lot - but on the other if he'd lie about something small........kwim?

Then he is almost certainly 36. Nobody ever lies about their age upwards.

and 36 is fine just that on one hand - bothers me that he lied about it b/c if he'll lie about something small like that he'll do it with something bigger - on the other its not that big a deal (the age thing)

the guy i went out with before him was pushing 39 so its really not that bad age wise

It also could just be as simple as He hit the wrong year or date on his age. I have had similar things happen to me and I didn't catch it.

So far I have run into four guys with the wrong age on their page. All admitted it up in early discussions. It just gave me a laugh....of course all of them are over 60.

I'd give him the benefit for possible errors. If he purposely lied about it, maybe he just wanted younger women, so that looked "better."

If he did intentionally lie, that's ridiculous if a person is seriously looking. It will all be found out, then trust could be affected.

I'd just ask him outright to clarify the matter but regardless the answer, it doesn't sit well with me. I've found those who lie "a little bit" like that aren't trustworthy overall and in the end it just can't work.

YMMV

When I first joined matchdr it had my age as 72 or something I didn't even notice it for a few months till someone pointed it out to me why not just ask.

You know, Two and a half men had a show on internet dating, and one of them said, everybody lies a little on these things....(profiles).....And for the most part I'm sure everbody puts a little edge on things, cuz they WANT to find someone.....And I think everyone agrees when the first page opens up, you have no idea what to say about yourself. Most of us go back and reread, modify, to be as accurate as possible. I'm sure some do not. All you have to do is ask, use his answer, to answer the question of what kind of man he is.

Then why does everyone say age is just a number?

I was on another site (serves me right ). A guy asked me if I dated younger men. I looked him up and it said that he was 19 (I'm 40). So I made some Mrs. Robinson reference, and he laughed and said that he was really 35. Two minutes later, he was kidding, he was really going to be 20. Is this funny to young people?
