I saw this question somewhere else and Thought,
 that is kinda what seems to be so let me ask here.
yea every one is going to say, just be yourself, but i've noticed
that isn't the case most times.
why does it seem to be that in most cases,
it is up to the man to jump through hoops for a woman??

Well that is, unless she winks at me, flutters her eyes, and makes purrrrring noises, or crosses her legs just so, or maybe gets all touchie/feely and stuff..

Define just what you mean by "jump through hoops" here, irish.
Good relationships find both people jumping, so to speak, for one another all of the time. Putting price tags or assigning value to each activity can certainly be done and in an ideal world if one looks at things that way there's an overall balance, but focusing on it in those terms using the mundane perspective often just dooms the relationship to failure.
Generally, VERY generally speaking, it is man's nature to have a higher amount of "aggressiveness" and so perhaps from that standpoint (alone) he is somewhat more visibly "active" when a relationship is forming. But understand that his aggressiveness must be matched by an equal amount of "passiveness" from the woman...which "passiveness" is, in and of itself, a type of action. So while outwardly it looks to the eyes as if he "does all the work", the broader perspective sees both in a state of "doing". And where those two elements are in balance, there is a good relationship.
