There are things you don't do in certain cities world wide. 
In Cardiff, England you dont  .....because of what ever reason..
In Woomera, Australia you don't ....for what ever reason...
and in New York City.... 
you don't pick up a $100 bill if you dropped it on Christopher Street if you are a man . You kick that SOB all the way to the other corner and up that block if you have to before picking it up. 
Why? It's the equivalent to dropping the soap in prison...

In Phoenix
- You don't grab the closest parking spot, you grab the shadiest one
- You don't wear gloves in winter, but you need them in summer (think potholders as you open your car door)
- You don't look for winter escapes, you've already escaped...

Heaven, although I don't think I could stand your high temps, I have to admit I'm envious that you escaped the winters of the Midwest! Good going!
In Indiana expect to move someplace else if you want a really good job that pays well. (And expect to lose the extra money you made by paying for the increase in cost of living, cause it's inexpensive to live in a lot of Indiana. )
In Indiana expect to know about basketball and corn, and the difference between the two! 
What you don't do here is buy liquor on Sundays (or cars). You travel to Michigan for that

*You don't advertise that you're from Illinois.
*You don't ride a Honda/Kawasaki/Suzuki, etc.
*You don't wear Bears gear.
*You don't choose Zima over Beer.

What IS true, is that you do not give the tourists the correct directions, no matter how nice they look.

In Edinburgh which is in Scotland 
At 1pm you dont get a fright when the one o'clock gun goes off every day .from the castle (its loud as its an old cannon from hundreds of years ago )
...... if you jump its sooooooo touristy & uncool

Downtown Seattle ~ You don't jaywalk!
You can always tell who isn't local .....they jaywalk! We all know, the cops are just waiting............to snag you and give you that lovely $40 award.........you just got caught with a "moving traffic violation" and a $40 ticket!!! So all the Seattlites........stand patiently at the intersection cross-walk and proceed appropriately  ...........and snicker at the stupid gits that got caught!

In Las Vegas you don't:
hang out on the strip, 'cuz that's where all of the tourists go
get reasonable car insurance rates, 'cuz we have one of the highest accident
rates in the country
trust or believe anything anyone says unless they're your family or friends
have a big back yard: they're all "postage stamp" sized
own your own home, your soul belongs to the home owner's association -- if you forget to pay your monthly fees you could lose your house!

In NYC you don't stare at celebrities, and of course you don't walk up to them to talk or ask for autographs or whatever. We don't have paparazzi.
Oh and did I mention that you MAY NOT give tourists the correct directions? :D (Of course you have to be a total moron to be able to get lost in Manhattan)

All the homes here are surrounded by a cinder block wall -- the houses tend to be built up with scarcely 10 feet between houses. If you happen to be upstairs, you have a nice view of your neighbor's "doings" and vice versa

I was in Vegas last year Starchild ... gorgeous scenery and country but strange vibe there ... what made you go live there ?

The company that I worked for moved me out to this town about 9 years ago.... but they DO have some beautiful neighborhoods, but those are mostly gated -- which means everyone is concerned about security.
