Is it your forte or not? Or if you haven't done it, do you think it would be?

I've never tried it. It didn't exist the last time I was single. I think it would be fun to try. The nice thing is that you wouldn't be stuck talking to someone you didn't like for very long. Although, I'm sure the 3 minutes (or however long it is) would seem to go by very slowly if you don't like the person.

I need at least an hour or two of ignoring a woman before she becomes interested. Of course, those are all the wrong women, but I got no "speed" game.

most speed dating seminars charge anywhere from 100-200 dollars for an evening where you meet 30-40 people.... for 3 minutes each...
on most weekends, there are 10 or 20 seminars scattered across the Cities here

It's kind of a new concept around here, as far as I can tell anyway.. I don't think we tend to be on the cutting edge in cases like this.
But like Wiccked said, you can't find out who is the axe-murderer in 3 minute!! About all you can do is note if they look reasonably good or not, and that doesn't tell you very much. Hard to imagine wanting to date somebody with only 3 minutes exposure.. Of course I suppose you could exhange telly numbers for later? There's probably enough time for that..
Have never had the urge to give the concept a go myself. Just no thrill felt there.
Is this another one like some of us growing permanent cell phone appendages? Also known as 'progress'? HeeeHee!

MM- it's my understanding that you don't exchange contact information at that time. You have a sheet listing all the people participating of the opposite gender and you mark which ones you are interested in getting to know further. You turn in the sheet at the end of the night. For the people where there is a match, whoever is running the program gives each of you each other's contact info and you can get to know each other better.
This arrangement could be good for a couple of reasons; it could save you a lot of time, because you meet a bunch of people one night in one place instead of going many different times to meet someone for coffee or drinks, etc. Also, you don't have to tell someone to his/her face that you are not interested.

Do you get to have sex with all of them too? That would be stupid... then what would we do for the other 2-1/2 minutes?

Ohhhh my, Dooney!! Even LESS personalized than I thought!!
So the managers of the function itself are actually managing your love-life too eh? Do they also tell you who to be attracted to? heh heh (Kinda like eHarmony?)
Sorry, don't mean to be sarcastic. I just find the speed-up concept a little repulsive.. I don't think that's quite how Mother Nature intended it to be.
