Has anyone ever tried it?
Does it work?
Where are they?
Are there any near Macon or Milledgeville?
I have wanted to always try them and have never known anyone that has either (as most my friends and family are married or been in serious relationships for two or more years) and I would like some input on going to one...or if at all possible starting one around here...as there isn't really any way to meet quality men in Milledgeville.

Hya Gurl!
I had a similar thread recently, "Alternative Dating Methods, heard any success stories?", but not a mention about Speed Dating. Maybe yours will spark more discussion?
Peace

Hi Country gurl.
I once saw something on tv that showed and talked about Speed dating. They have tables set up with different people usually men or women or combination of both seated at the tables and people make their rounds at each table while they're timed. They talk their faces off in that given time and to see what they have in common, any attraction, etc.
These people were later interviewd and asked how they liked it and all said that they preferred it as they had no pressures and didn't waste each other's time trying to find something they liked.
It looked fun and wouldn't mind trying something like that.
Apparently that form of dating is the norm in this day and age. Would work for me!

You wouldn't know it but I'm too shy for speed dating or anything like that. It would be pure torture for me to meet somebody new every few minutes.

Being one of those who prefers to only date one person at a time, I can't possibly see how I could accomplish this......I would need to keep feeling a need to put an end to the 3 minute "relationship" before I "moved on".

LOL Five minutes is hardly enough time to get into a 'relationship' I would think. I think this is more like mingling at a party or something only in a different setting. So I don't see any real solid relationships blossoming in a few minutes. :))

I don't think at all you could start a relationship in a few minutes...but you can tell if you would ever want to talk to the person again...i by no means think that a relationship can be started in a few minutes

I tried it in Mpls once, and got about 5 out of 12 phone numbers...a lot better batting average than here on MD, but then our gang had to leave town and I only called to say goodbye!

Yes, I have tried it a couple of times & had mixed results. If you are hot and/or wealthy, it works very well. If you are the average Joe, not so much. At least, that was my experience. Then again, that is not surprising, is it?

Interesting It is a meat market, in which you get 5 - 10 minutes to make an impression. Just how much depth are you going to discover in that time frame?

I wonder if 2 people really feel a "connection" and leave to go have coffee, does it mess them all up?
SayYes....I bet you always make a good impression!

The kind of people who think speed dating is a good idea are the kind who get on a singles site and send an email to every single person on their "match" list. They are apparently impervious to rejection.

it was fun being able to meet a lot of attractive wimmens in so short of a time, but who knows where any of it would have lead if I didn't have to leave town...I found out travelling around a lot that its not to hard getting phone numbers because a lot of times its just a way to blow you off without actually telling you when you meet someone because sometimes the phone numbers are fake!
