The sense of wonder in a child--I have no kids of my own.
A small furry kitten--love those little critters.
A beautiful sunset--it sings to my soul.
The love of a family--I miss my family as they are all 1200 miles from me.

the smell of freshly cut wood .. reminds me of my Brother in Law and all the time we spent building things
the feel of material as I shop for some to make something.. reminds me of my mom and the many hours spent shopping for material with her and having her teach me the FEEL of a good piece of goods
the unbridled laughter of friends it reminds me of my cousin Lil she laughed so heartily with abandon
they touch me all because they remind me of these people that I loved dearly that are no longer here

Hearing from a friend that I haven't heard from in a while. Makes me wonder why I wasn't the one who got in touch first.
Watching my cats sleep and knowing they are safe and healthy here with me in the house.

Wow, tough question, I may have to put them in catagories, nature touches my heart....Sunsets, very cool cloud formations, tree branches with a coating of ice, sparkling in the sun. Warm sunny days with a slight breeze and nothing to do but drink a beer with good friends, an eagle flying over head, or a deer standing a few feet form the road with it's fawn.Just about any natural wonder. Mother natures forcefull storms, and the calm afterwards, the smell of spring, and realizing spring has sprung, and everything turns green in just a few warm days.
Sometimes you just walk outside and you just feel good, because it is a great day, and you feel lucky to be alive, and able to enjoy everything that life has to offer........Oh, and finding yourself with that funny feeling in your gut, knowing that you may be falling in love.

Why does it touch your heart?
When I get a message from a good friend that out of the blue sends me a message saying "I love you"
When I get poem from friends across the miles that she how much they care.
When I get a phone call from my grandson just asking me "How are you Grandma?"
When I see a baby smile for the first time.
When I see the wonder of an eagle as he soars through the sky.
When I see the sun set.
When I can feel the soul of my dear friend.

My friends and all here on MD.. and a couple of awesome sisters on here.. and this is not strange and neither am i but one sister i talk to on yahoo quite often and she is so encouraging i always send hugs and i love you's before i sign off and all my sisters that i send emails to i sign with love.. and thats from my heart.. There are many things in my life that touch my heart...one being people and the other being animals...love both. However working in the ER, I have learned to shield myself from most people. It is life and death every dayand you simply get used to it, however the cry of a child...and fear each parent holds gets me everytime! Having to straddle a toddler to get an iv in just kills me as they scream for their mommy. The other as I mentioned is animals. To see an animal who has been beaten just gives me a knot in my stomache. How you look into the eyes of a dog and can just see how sad and afraid they are.

My sons, and my grandson. Lately, they have all been grabbing my heart.
A smile from a person that I have helped at my workplace. ( some elderly women love to talk and I help them carry their books). I had a lady call yesterday to ask about a diabetic cook book. She seemed to want to tell me about how the meds are hurting her tummy. Sigh, we talked for around 10 minutes on the phone and I put some books on hold for her daughter to pick up for her.
I had a man yesterday that I asked if he needed help. he looked at me and said, " I speak very bad English". I said, well, I don't think I speak it very good either! 
Between the 2 of us, we found what he wanted.
