Say someone lives in your area, and clicks on your profile, sees how many posts you have, and clicks on your past posts. Do you think, some of the non-posters, are intimidated by some of the playfulness that goes on here? I mean we say things to each other we would never say to a complete stranger......( well most of us that is ).
And I would assume they wouldn't understand the friendships we have developed. And might be intimidated by our sense of humor........I just wonder, how many times this has happened.....And we would never know...........

actually I've had people comment on my bitter mean, or hostile posts, so I better mellow out, or everyone will believe I'm a grump....

Is this kinda related to "Drive-By" blog attacks?

You know, the kind that never look at profiles but troll around the blogs looking for fresh meat???????

No, this is about the folks who only use MD as a dating site.( or newbys ) They have no idea what goes on here in the forums... ( or blogs ) for that matter. I can sometimes get very deep into discussions, and other times it is just " playing around " with my friends...And at any point in time, if a " stranger " viewed my last couple of posts, what would they think? Or maybe, some of our favorite gold members and the funny pics they post........and our comments on them.........( not that there is anything wrong with any of this,) just what could their perception be?

Things that make you go Hmmmmmmmmm?

Yes, even some of us posters are intimidated, or confuzzled, or both.

Like jellybean, I'm another who loves reading the forums and blogs, although I sometimes get confused when I come across another "well they were being mean to me" blog and I can't find where it started . I'm sure there's a lot of us "lurkers" out here who enjoy the banter between the "regulars"

I once had a guy tell me that my high count of forum posts (under my old screen name I had 5000 posts) was a sure sign that I had no life and sent up huge red flags to him. I picked up a red flag and waved buh-bye.

Blu, I was a lurker for a longtime before I posted. I wanted to see what kind of people were here, and if I wanted to be friends with any of them. Look what happened!

I think the people that lurk, must enjoy themselves as I did. Otherwise, they would pop in here like a few do and spout off their poison.

I know not all people are nice, just wish they'd keep their nastiness in the real world and not invade our fun. But, then again, I guess that is what they consider fun, so I just stay away from them.

I would welcome anyone to read my posts. I think my true personality comes out here just as it does in the real world. I know there are a few here that pretend to be something they are not, guess I am not smart enough or dishonest enough to do that. I am what you see here, like me or not.

As for the pictures I post, if someone doesn't see the humor in them, then I wouldn't want to meet them anyway.

Me too......past lurker....

I lurked for 3 months, but I wanted to be a part of this crazy gang of posters!! My possee.... I have never regretted it...but it was hard at first cracking into the group...some ignored me and would go right past my posts, while others welcomed me right into the conversation. I am careful to not ignore new posters because of that.....you never know what they are going through and may need to make a new friend...
Sooooooo.....what does a non poster think when reading some of our crazy stuff...I think if they stick around they might be in for the ride of their life....

I think that some people take what is said in the forums. It only took me a short time to read different posts to catch on to who is nice or not. Usually the not nice don't last very long. I don't think that people should contact you to tell you how they feel if it is negative, they should just move on.

I had one guy write and ream me out about religion. It was almost a death threat...
I had clicked Mormon accidentally, but that shouldn't have mattered!
Anyway-if some are content to read only for entertainment-it's ok with me.

I'm a non-poster, lurker, and I really enjoy reading the forums and blogs. Maybe one day I'll get into the forums. For now I enjoy just looking on. There's great bunch of people that post and I have made a few friends on here

I think reading peoples posts is a really good way to figure out a persons personality to an extent. I would like to believe what we post really reflects who we actually are. Granted there are still posers out there, but for the majority. I was also a lurking viewer before I decided to start posting. One thing that may kind of intimidate though that I notice is most of the posters here are not 20s-30s crowd. Granted there are some who are but most I think are 40s and up....correct me if im wrong!
