Well, I received an email today -- several rather from the same person -- and I do believe I got the best last word.
Here's the mail:
hey u are really cute. write me back. tom
---- my reply: You're going to have to try harder than that... and try spelling out full words. That does help.

------------------ my reply: Quit trying already; I can see you'd get overexerted. Ciao.
------------------------------ his reply: the only way u get overexerted is by eating too much. the only reason i email u is because i lost a bet. good luck on trying to get into those pants u wore in high school, ciao

And the only reason I emailed back is because I felt sorry for you. Seriously, just admit you were interested and actually spell the word 'you' -- is it THAT difficult? I'm sure it was required at some point on some exam to be able to actually spell... or are you *really* that lazy? Listen, *you* haven't told me anything I haven't heard before, and contrary to yourself, I actually like who I am -- I don't have to go around trying to "tease" people on the internet to make myself feel better about my so-called flaws. All I was doing was trying to help you communicate more effectively, that's all.
Now, apologize to me for the name-calling -- to which I took no offense, but hope you learn a lesson in courtesy from this -- or I will report you for discriminatory harrassment.

Good for you! I would have just ignored the email in the first place,though. I don't understand why it's so hard to type out "you" instead of u. It's pretty aggravating. That and "r" in place of "are", etc. It's actually more difficult for me to type that way, because I know it's wrong. Maybe this guy will learn a lesson.

Curvy,
I know it can be frustrating when you receive an e-mail that doesn't say much more than a comment about how you look and the person is apparently requesting a reply, but you shot back at the guy really hard....your initial reply seemed very angry...maybe he was shy or just didn't know how to capture your interest.
If it seemed to you that he "refused to talk" and that bothered you, why did you choose to engage with him in the first place?

And therein lies the fall of why Men don't like to approach women nowadays. It is because of cynical, superficial women like that, that make us good guys just want to play around and not get tied down to someone like her. I have had my fair share of women like her that just like to nit pick people to death and never take a step back to look at their own faults.

My point exactly. I know that I am not prince charming or even close to it but if given the chance, and someone was to compliment me and us words like "U" and "Y" I would definitely not pick on them for that little common abbreviated word. Get wise Curvy, It is called computer lingo and most people use it these days when posting on a nonprofessional site.

Life is not ABOUT having the last word, it is not about public humiliation, and it is definitely NOT about abbreviations. I doubt there was a bet. He probably started out sincere. He probably did not like your attitude. He probably got defensive as you have and you may have lost a good opportunity. Seems the only one you have humiliated is yourself. I doubt he is going to read this and spend much time with a box of kleenex. Perhaps you should try a more gentle approach. Lighten up a little and look for people's good points!! What are you afraid of? What ARE you covering up with this attitude? Fear of rejection? Fear of failure? Afraid they will get too close? Hmmmm.........

Pardon me? Not take a step back and look at my own faults? That's laughable, at best. I've spent the better part of my life doing that.
If it makes me hypocritical to make a suggestion, so be it. If it makes me seem angry, so be it. If it makes me unapproachable -- so be it.
I'm not looking for someone who is scared off that easily anyways, nor am I looking for someone who believes that about me. Herein lies a *lot* more than anyone in this thread will probably ever know -- superficiality comes in many forms, my friends.
And no, I'm not afraid of rejection, failure, or getting too close -- I don't *need* someone to tell me I'm good enough or that they want me, I just want that.
Pardon me for placing a high value on the effectiveness of another's ability to communicate, and excuse me for being to-the-point -- that's who I am. Take it or leave it, no matter to me.
