Do you exchange mock insults with your SO/loved ones?

My best friend and I routinely exchange insults when we hang out. She'll start off with "Hey, lesbian" and I'll reply with "Hey there, skank".
Then of course there's my brother and I. He calls me "bigass", "f***face", or "fag", depending on his mood. I call him "homo" or "assman".
I love my brother more than anyone else in the world. 
My point is, we don't really mean these insults, but we say them anyway. Do you do this with your loved ones? Also, why do we do this? I only exchange insults with those I'm closest with, if that helps.

Sadian just called me a drunk ass ho and i responded with trenton pimp....but i still love him...think he's great!!! 
Maybe it just depends on who it is coming from...i would not have playfully responded if it was someone i didn't know

That's true...it's not like you would greet an acquaintance with "Hey, loser". My guess is it has to do with trust. You know the person well enough and trust them not to get offended.
