Mmmmmmmmmm.....Tough one here.....even though it's probably more about individual than gender.....but I would have to say men...because that's who we are.

Everyone goes through it, I'm sure, for different reasons, men and women ..... I don't think gender is a factor.

I don't think it is gender-specific; I feel that the last person hurt has the longest path to cover ( or recover) in regaining confidence and a sense of security and putting the hurt behind him (her).

Interesting comments...it seems that I usually find overly confident men...that is men that think very highly of themselves...perhaps that's why they are single!!! lol

Jealousy & insecurity are not really gender based. Those qualities really relate to trust. The world has taught some of us not to trust, a little more than others.
That said, some folks are just "wired" more nerveously than others.

I once heard a theory that men are more concerned about a woman's physical infidelity while women are more concerned about a man's emotional infidelity.
Made a lot of sense to me.

I also think it is an individual trait, not gender specific. For example, I'm very confident where my work is concerned and very insecure in relationships. I haven't had much experience with jealousy but I would bet I could do that well too!

My experience with jealousy was that the jealous ones were the unfaithful...like they were projecting their own guilt onto me or something...so, if anyone ever starts acting jealous for no reason, I will automatically think that they did something wrong!!! Those old experiences make us a bit wiser and more cautious I think

I only remember feeling jealous in one relationship. It was my first serious relationship when I was in my late teens and early 20s.
After that, I never remember feeling jealous.
Frankly, I wish I cared enough about someone to be jealous.

Well my ex b/f called me the other day and wondered if I was mad at him for some reason. I said no but I thought, to be mad at you, I'd have to care and right now I just don't. So I understand what DR is saying.

I once heard a theory that men are more concerned about a woman's physical infidelity while women are more concerned about a man's emotional infidelity.
Made a lot of sense to me. Initially, it made a lot of sense to me also. But, after reading it a second time, it occurred to me that a large majority of women consider physical infidelity the same thing as emotional infidelity.

I, too, feel that the jealousy and insecurity depends upon the individual, not the gender.
Psssttttttttt........Katy...........I'm not in that greater majority of women! I believe there can be physical infidelity without emotional infidelity just as there can be emotional infidelity without physical infidelity.

all depends on own character, life's experiences, level of relationship, how we are involved, how we exchange and convey our feelings ......not gender
