I am treating today like any other day. It's the same way I look at just about every holiday: Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year's Day, and any other holiday that revolves around love, family, and friends. I even treat my own birthday the same way. They are just days to me anymore. I want to be able to enjoy them, and I think I will do just that at some point in the future. These last feew years have been hard, but I am trying to make positive changes to my life.

feb 14th for me also. i'm a bit on the religious side. i prefer to keep my holy days and holidays seperate. but, if i had a gal, i figure i would do at least a little sumpin for her.

Oh, most definitely it's Valentine's Day!! 
It's 6.10 in the evening here in Istanbul and so there are still 5 whole hours and 50 minutes left for handsome admirers to stand underneath my balcony and serenade me, or leave big bunches of freesias outside my door ...

Even before I had a husband I celebrated. There are many people that need to get a card or just a phone call on this day.

I agree, Valentines isn't just between man / woman, it showing the special people in your lives that you are sharing a bit of love,, Love comes in a variety of styles, Love your husband, Love your kids, Love your family, and LOVE your friends,,,sometimes friends need it more than the rest......,,,,,,,,,Happy Valentines Day to all......................

I agree with Kattsmeow and Purplemix - Valentine's Day isn't just about romantic /sexual love.
I got a few nice cards and messages today and some of them were just from friends who chose this particular day to send their  s
I think that's lovely too and it made me smile.

My sweetheart and I don't really do a lot as far as celebrating Valentines Day. We usually exchange cards or special notes.. but then we do that all year around. It's more important to us to show our love and affection at any given time.. whenever.. for whatever reason. It is nice to be acknowledged on VD but I don't need dinner and flowers to know that I am his Valentine all year around

you have absolutely no family and friends? wow, there are so many people around, join a club or group.
valentine's day, i have nothing against or for it. i also don't have the need to fit in and have someone romantically to share it. good for you if you do, if you don't you can still enjoy it.

For the first time in a few years I have someone special, she feels the same way I do, it is a halmark holiday.
I was at the store twice today, the second time there was a row of men, all with their hands in their pockets just staring at a wall of cards, waiting for an opening, to reach in a grab one ( hopefully the right one. )  It was very sad actually, all this desperation to try to make someone happy.....
I was asked what I wanted, I said a back rub would be fine..... We should be able to take at least one day a week, and say I love you in a slightly different manner to show we say it without seeming routine..... This all I ever ask...... Don't BUY me a damn thing, just make me feel special and loved for just a couple minutes.... And you have my heart for as long as you want it.
Just another day for me.......
I do like to go out for dinner, but NEVER< NEVER on VD>.....  Like this weekend, when it is quiet.......the point is to spend time with each other, not a room full of people trying to do the same thing.

Valentines Day is a great time to tell those you care about you love them......as I don't have a special someone in my life at this time, I do however have special people in my life in the way of my family.....so it was candy for the grandbabies, and cards and candy for the big daughters too!
So......it IS Valentines Day for me.......

I have to agree, Blue. It's usually so congested, it lessens the experience.

Valentine's day, like every other day should be lived to it's fullest. Then again there really ain't a whole lot of harm done in a day that reminds us to show others how much we care, we just need to carry it forward to all our other days we are so blessed with.

Its neither..its Thanksgiving.
Before heading out early this morning to bring in a load of firewood I looked over at Brenda and gave her what I thought was a hearty "Happy Valentines Day!".After she replied unenthused at all by my greeting,which had me surprised BTW,I took her shopping,met a client to give a bid to on a small remodleing job, then took her to Red Lobster for dinner.
After dinner she thanked me so I said Happy Valentines day!..again.
It was then she told me that I at least got the day right this time.
I asked.."What do you mean by that?"
This morning you wished me Happy Thanksgiving. 
The lobster tail was right tasty though.

I did send some Happy Valentines Day emails... to friends far away.
My female friends here are all with new boyfriends... so... in the essence of the holiday, I stayed quiet. One friend did send me a text message saying "I heart you". So, I guess that's nice.
This is the first year I haven't worked in an office, where people are having flowers and candy delivered all day long. It's kind of nice not having it thrown into your face for once!
Cynical? Who me??

I spent the day at home with the dogs...
made a pan of lasagna, had dinner by myself
and it was a pleasant Thursday....
