A woman at work (a natuiral blonde) just did her hair with brown streaks and she looks absolutely stunning...

Annie....I did the redhead thing for five years, started as a dare to be the Y2K 'event' at work. It's a tough color to maintain---how about a couple of colors woven into your current look? Last summer I had a 'heavy weave' of red and strawberry blond woven into my white hair, and it was a fun look and an easy grow out. Whatever you do, have fun with it!

Have you noticed, Jerry's the only guy brave enough to post in this group of "smart women"?

No matter which screen name you choose I'll always know you as Annie. It's good to see you back posting again.
Sometimes we are so busy it's really hard to take the time we need to recharge. I say wait till after tax time and see if those orange blossoms that Heaven mentioned might still be blooming. If they are not, the change of scenery still might help.

what do YOU do after a relationship ends? I shave all my hair off. ( ALL of it) And paint my body green. I only make right turns for a months. I cut down the tree that was curved up over our love, and make tooth picks. I take these tooth picks and build a toothpick city. I do my best incredible Hulk And SMASH Hulk mad grrr. Or even godzilla , Raaaant, rannnt and i take the toothpick city down.
OR if it was a shitty breakup. I date her all friends.
Now if it was a good break off. Which in the end they are. I come running back to md to a few of my select friends and they lift my spirits and remind me of my focus.

And Dixie...thanks My daughter lives a few miles from Heaven, and the last time I visted her, I was able to relax in Heaven's backyard for a few hours as well. Sounds like a really good plan to me.
As for this hair color thing....my "natural" color right now is a non-color, if you catch my drift. This particular white, non color (I'm not gonna admit I'm gray) is winning the battle, which means a whole lotta maintenance, or I'm looking like a skunk with a white stripe down the middle of my head in just 2 weeks. If I knew I'd look as good as Sally, I'd let it go, but I've been there, done that and looked much too old. So for now, I think blonde/highlights/low lights is the answer.

I'd go for a new, different haircut first. Then decide if you really want to change the color. If it were me, I'd strip it down to it's own color, then reverse highlight in a bit of a sparkly blonde. Or, if you want to be dramatic, reverse highlight - very finely - with a dark brown.
The thing is that as our hair changes color, so, too, does our skin tone and even our eye color. So if you go too dark, or "against the grain", so to speak, it only serves to accentuate other signs of aging.
I personally wouldn't trade all my silver hair for anything. Had to adjust the way I do makeup (not that I bother with much even on a good day) but it's...me. Now.

Sci---I LOVE your haircolor, and you shouldn't change it for anything. When I let mine go natural a few years ago, I felt like I looked washed out all the time, so I know what you mean about having to change makeup. I tried dressing in vibrant colors, changed the color of my eyeglass frames, had a professional makeup, makeover...nothing helped. I just looked blah.
The reverse thing sounds interesting though.

I think if ANY of us had hair like Sci's we'd go 'grey' gracefully - that silver's awesome!
I just toyed with going natural for a couple of months, but it's still mostly that dingy brown, but with silver highlights that almost made me go with it...but I'm a redhead again. I just don't have the patience to wait for it to grow long enough to cut off the 'old' red. My skin tone's definitely changed, it's so light that I look totally washed out without some 'color enhancement', be it makeup, sunlight or Mystic tanning.

Isn't it funny though, most of the women here have admitted to changing our hair at the end of a relationship.
I have decided to name the former gentleman in my life Mr. Magic, since all I saw was a puff of smoke, and POOF, he was gone. Today I will be "unshopping" the Valentine's Day presents I had bought for him, and of course, re-shopping for something appropriate for ME. Its gonna be a good day.

Welcome back Annie! Very good to see you again...
I would definitely go out and mingle....accept date invitations just to lift your spirits some....and yes! yes! yes! Change hair color and a couple of new youthful outfits, and shoes...don't forget the shoes!! They say anything with a heel ...low or high is more youthful than a flat shoe. I like the hair color ideas.....try a warmer color of blonde instead of ash colors and definitely put some low lights in with it! Then go to the department store and have them play around with some glowy colors.....and my final bit of advice is get a new lipstick shade!!! Lipstick can really brighten up your face.....not that you need it Annie....you are a beautiful lady already! Be such a bad mama jamma he will regret ever letting you go!!!
Oh ...and love yourself.....and tehe....buy some hot panties!!!

buy some hot panties!!! You know, I'll bet that's the #2 answer for all women, right behind changing our hair!
and thanks for the nice welcome back too!
