Most people (men and women) who are looking for a new relationship have not had any sex in a while and that is at least part of the reason they are looking for that relationship.
gotta disagree.......
a lot of us...will take the comittment first.....and find the love first.....
then its not even a discussing about "having sex" anymore!

...It was a legitimate answer... How do you, or would you ever really know, without testing for STD's, while waiting right outside the clinic and maintaining a monogamous relationship?

My point was that some women don't seem to understand why some men are anxious to have sex early on in a new relationship. I didn't comment on whether or not it is a good idea to do so.
Your point was that sometimes it's a good idea to take things more slowly. I agree.

Yep.....I am all for restraint...LOL. Had 3 relationships.....and never had full on sex with any of them...just had fun without going *all the way*...if you know what I mean. I dont go to bed with men until I get to know them....and know they are for real.......with no alterior motives. Call me prudish if you like....but at the end of the day I never feel used when it all ends. If you have to give a man sex to keep them....then I believe there is something wrong somewhere...(my thoughts)

Here we go with the same old crap again. If you want to make a comment on what I've said then fine. If you want to make ridiculous comments then do it with someone else's posts not mine.
People do get tested fro STDs period. Doctor's are now starting to ask women who are late middle aged about sexual activity due to the rise in instances of STDs in that age range. Something that wasn't done in the past. With so many long term marriages breaking up, women who had a sense of security in a monogamous relationship are naievely thinking someone of their own age couldn't have an STD. Besides men can be asymptomatic, which means they have no outward signs, sometimes women can be too. With my exposure to the healthcare field I've looked at those little "biggers" under the microscope. You just can't expect to take an antibiotic and all will be well in a few days, not anymore. So if you want to make, in my humble opinion, stupid comments about waiting outside a health clinic, then more power to you.
As far as your comment about avoiding HOs either virtual or in person. I really don't care what your personal practices are. IF you're insinuating that I'm a HO then let me set you straight. You don't know me, period. I'm a very direct and honest person. My business is my own but for the record. I can joke, laugh, make sexual inuendoes, talk openly about sex, post sensual poems or whatever and it's in fun. The difference is I'm capable of all the wild and crazy stuff that goes on between two people but I don't have casual sex. The most sexual pic that I have on my profile is my tat. I have intentionally not popsted provocative photos. Nor am I in the habit of explaining myself to those who appear to be pompous prudes. Therefore my comment to you has ended.

Maybe Never assume. (and we've had a thread or two on this)
My doctors never asked me-and I've been to 7 specialists in the last year.
People MIGHT (keyword) get tested, and a doctor cannot force you to be tested. (I just happened to have the aids, hiv, hep, tests etc done with md, ms and lupus tests.-One doctor out of all of these)
And, not defending anyone-but I saw no ref to you as a ho, Blues

I get updates from a womens site called Women to Women. A few women doctors give info concerning women's issues. They posted an article about the rise in STDs in women of our age and the beginning of the testing of women who would otherwise not have been tested. Hopefully this becomes more the norm.
As far as the comment about your observation, thanks. I think I'm a bit "sensitized" to attacks and name calling after being in the political forum.

Yep, Blues...doctors SHOULD be concerned.
More people SHOULD be concerned about themselves, and potential partners.
Say you meet someone here, talk online, phone, cam for a few months...decide to meet.
A spark is there-you really feel "all-connected"....do you (not just you, anyone...) ask for their medical papers, then? Go together first?
And politics and r &s can be hard to find a niche in! 
 I do it anyway, on occasion!

...I wont have sex with a guy unless he has been tested.....if he wont get tested....then no sex...LOL. If they wont wear condoms I wont have sex with them.....hence have never had sex since divorce 10 yrs ago..LOL....well not *full on* sex anyway...LOL. Ive watched too many OPRAH shows with women and men being totally devastated catching all sorts of things.....along with HIV from their partners....a girl has to keep herself safe these days......even an old girl....LOL

1st thing is there is no generic test for STDs and one test does not cover them all….2nd some STDs do not show up right away it can take some weeks, months and even years to appear……..3rd people that think they can run get tested or tell a new partner to get tested and they are safe if a negative result was given are wearing blinders plain and simple….do you really know what you or they were tested for? …do you know for sure how long it has been since their last sexual encounter and with whom they were sexual with over the years?….oh yes I know the ole well they are nice and I trust them excuse….well come back after a few months or years and repeat that remark with the same enthusiasm and we can talk then…..lol
Sure I know none of the above meets most PC want to hear or read but just look around the forums and tell me people don’t jump in a relationship only to say how they never saw how the other person really was until later…look how many times some find the perfect one over and over to go oops not the one… there is nothing wrong with either of the above if it is how you want to go about finding a relationship….but being ignorant about STDs in this day and age is another thing IMO…..

...Back on topic, most decent men do not screw around with anything and everything, while waiting on the one that is forever plus one day. But of course, like everyone else, mistakes are made in thinking there was that potential, which gives Nah's, Loreli's and even my post a bunch of relevance in the real world.

My gyno asks me every year if I think I should be tested for STDs. I was tested last year (clean bill of health). The problem is that men or women may not be tested because they believe their mate has been faithful, when in fact they may have brought you home a little surprise.

I don't have all the answers nor do I claim to know all the answers. I just know that to be ignorant, uninformed or even careless for an instant (that's really a quickie...LOL) could cost your more than you wee ever willing to pay.
