I guess my mistake is in reading the forums at all, but sometimes you can get an idea about people by how they think and feel about things. I got on this afternoon, and was checking on the threads I usually follow (they know who they are) and found that it seemed that all of them had somehow become a place for people to be mean to each other.
So my question is: Did anyone come to MD to try to find someone to love and cherish, and spend the rest of their life with? Or is this the new age version of the local bar, where some go to 'hook up for the night', and others go to find someone to pick a fight with...

I can believe that. Is it just me, or is there more fur fllying today then is usually the case? I just know this is giving me a headache, and that is not what I came to MD for...

I was talking about it with a friend here. It's the Easter complex. Everyone wants to either be a savior or a victim nailed to the cross. And as a result, everyone is fighting over everything, and no one is getting drunk and doing auto body repair.

Syndil, a lot of us have found 'someones' but have made real friends here...and even the best of friends and most loving families have spats - some may pout, some may not, but eventually life just goes on as normal. Same here...we're all just humans, being ourselves - the good, the bad and the ugly. Personally I don't like confrontation much but if I never saw ANYTHING but sweetness and light I wouldn't be posting in here - humans just ain't like that, and I won't have no truck with them aliens!

I think most of us came here to meet someone....and some have succeeded. 
And I think many forget that everything they post here can be seen by the entire internet....anytime, anywhere. 
I can say I have met some awesome, awesome friends here that i wouldn't have found otherwise.

I feel the vast majority of people on here....would have come on here to meet somone. Even some who say they are only on here for friendship....if they were truthful.....would secretly be here to meet someone ...(not saying ALL...but a lot).
I dont even know really why I am on here...LOL. Being as truthful as I can be.....I came on here for a looksee....then decided to stay. I wanted to meet people and make net friends of both sexes. But it would be nice to make a nice male friend to relate to....and share things with...even just on here. I guess deep down I am a chicken..LOL. It is much safer meeting male people on here.....because they are too far away for anything to happen. Most people in the US are not about to jump on a plane and come to Australia......and I am not about to do the same. Even tho I could relocate anywhere.....but dont feel inclined to do it...LOL UNLESS Mel Gibson came on here....then I might have a change of heart..LOL LOL LOL.
Its much safer for me.....communicating with people on here. If I went to singles sites in Australia....I am too afraid I might meet someone.......then a new relationship might be in the making. And I feel I need a real long break....after having ended one 7 mths ago. Its nice to have my own space for a bit. When I am ready I will meet someone else........but right now I am enjoying where I am at...and lapping it up...LOL. Its nice to share feelings and tons of other things with people on here......its almost like having a hundred pen pals...LOL

You can meet peeps left and right here.
Some youlll like some you wont. If you ment meet and settle up with each other.
Sure thats the goal to most here, being a singles sites, doesnt always happen when ya would like but thats life. Im still waiting for that myself.

I did initially since I started using the 'net 3 years ago........yep I was naive...........anyway, have given up somewhat but like to have fun in the forums when I have the time!

I was married for 25 years, separated for a year and a half, finally the divorce came through and I was free to date... then I realized I had no idea how to date anymore. (Not that I had that many dates before I was married  )
Someone told me about MD and I came and read for a while, then put up a profile.

I came to this site looking to meet women and to find my significant other and that is what I am still here for. I found the forums by accident and have begun to enjoy posting on them and looking at other member's posts as well. I feel there is a risk in posting in the forums that someone who looks at my posts will click on them and read them and might get the wrong idea because we all tend to flirt and have fun on these forums. But mainly I am here looking for a relatationship and the forums are secondary. I have met several outstanding women from this site and I believe that here there is someone for everybody.

Yep, eggzackly Mom! Sometimes dysfunctional, but actually a lot more loving and supportive than a lot of real life families (but that don't mean we won't kick butt at times too). I've met a bunch of people in real life, and a bunch more of us will be meeting in May...

I've seen that, and it gives me hope. I have read as you cheered each other on, and as you have comforted each other when things went wrong, or something happened in someone's life that would need a shoulder or a hug. I think it's great.
And thank you, Burns, for the welcome back.. got me to smile when you said that.

I came on here several years ago, then forgot I had a profile here. I came back about 2 years ago, met someone, dated for 8 months or so, broke up, met folks in the forums that I really like and decided to go to the May camping trip to meet a bunch of these people in person. If I meet another guy, fine, but right now I'm not really looking.
