I've always wondered if people with lesser looks find other people with lesser looks truly attractive or if they have to simply settle for lesser looks because of what they have to offer. Anyone care to comment?

A person who would "settle" for lesser in exchange for money, fame, or success is nothing more than a prostitute. Who told that person they were "all that" for them to think they had to "settle" in the first place??? Vanity....all vanity..
Noone....and I repeat...Noone is any less worthy than the next person! We should never...never...EVER think because we have good looks, it places us up on a pedestool for all the world to worship...PLeasssseee!! Lessor looks doesn't mean "lessor" person and that you have to "settle".
Anyone who would "pick" someone to date or marry, etc., merely on the basis of looks, race, or social status is a very shallow person in my opinion.
There has to be something more than if you are good looking, what color your skin is, or if you have money and fame, for me to want to be with you.
Do we all have our standards? Absolutely! But to say no! I won't date anyone whose looks aren't as good as mine, or who doesn't have as much as I do is really a person who thinks higher than they ought to of themselves! When we do that....we have closed ourself off to the possibility of true joy love, and happiness.
I choose my friends based on what kind of person they are......on the inside.....it is the inside that will be there for you in thick or thin.....and the rest is just the whipped cream!! JMHO

In other words, if you are ugly should you just settle for whomever you can get regardless of whatever else you have to offer, because you are so ugly you are lucky to be getting anyone..so don't worry if they are ugly too.. cause in the end, looks are really all that matter? Is that about what you are saying?
Either you are an insensitive jerk or you really suck at using the right words to express yourself

What I am wondering is, If someone is with someone you would coin "lesser looks",
are you suggesting they are settling, beause of lesser looks?
I think I understand what you are saying......
a person with little self esteem , may possibly be intimidated to talk to a georgeous woman. But to use the term ........settlle !!!!!!!!!!!
One thing is certain..... that person has no understanding of the female mind, thought process, or emotional construction!
I have yet to meet an honest woman who would "settle" for looks, over someones heart!

I don't know. I have fallen for men that my friends thought were just NOT good looking. But I was very attracted to them.
Isn't it great that we all have different tastes?

Imperfections can be sexy ..beauty comes in many different ways Someone can be very ugly with a bad personality no matter what they look like !

Attractiveness doesn't have to be about looks... can be about personality or lifestyle that can make someone truely attractive to someone else.

This thread got started in part because of something I said on another thread, at least I think it did, so I get to 'weigh in' on this. Yes, I am overweight by medical standards, and somehow that makes me less then perfect in a lot of men's eyes. And they never look beyond my 'shell' to see the person underneath.. I am a loving, caring, nurturing person, but very few men will ever find that out. I am also sexy as hell, but they won't find that out either, because they prejudge me. As I said in the other thread, their loss. I have 'made up' for my 'lack' (if you want to call it that, I don't) in the female model department by learning everything I can about giving a man great pleasure, whether that means a backrub or a .. well, you get the idea... and men who want only slender/ whatever.. will never know what I have to offer... again, their loss.. I know who and what I am... as I am fond of saying,
I am very very good, at being very very bad..

Back to the topic, I have a 'fixing' personality? I have spend the last several years repairing the damage done by a previous relationship, so I know how hard it is to recover. The men I seem to be attracted to are the guys who have/are in the same situation.. who need someone to say, wow you are a great guy! (sexy, whatever) to give them back the confidence they have lost. I have never looked at the outside to determine if they are in need of my caring. Am I attracted to the good looking guys? Sure. Do I have the confidence to talk to them? Not bloody likely, but then I have had a lot of Adonises put me in my place, too. Only so much of that a woman can take before it starts to wear her down. And I did date one (Adonis-type) once. He was very much into himself, and his effect on all the 'pretty little things' (women) around him. So much so, that I sincerely doubt when I walked away, cause I seriously could not compete with his own perfection in his own eyes.

I think it is the imperfections that make life interesting.....I personally don't want a robot or a so called "perfect" man......just the one who is "perfect" for me
