I've seen single used for unattached mostly. I know plenty of divorcees and people who are seperated use the term "single"

Yeah Makya, I made the mistake of putting single rather than separated, and boy did I catch hell.. So now I put separated, and I know it chases many gals away, but I want to be up front. I was always straight with gals, and let them know of my situation. I have been separated over two years, my soon to be ex has a steady man. She cheated on me, and it's over. And I have had a couple of extended relationships in the past couple of years, but now I am currently searching.. So there ya have it...

I put separated off the bat and still caught hell.
So now I put separated, and I know it chases many gals away, but I want to be up front

Well some people like to call ya a cheater if you're still legally married and separated without knowing the circumstances... As for me for example, my mother-in-law was dying slowly from cancer for several months, and I didn't feel a need to burden my ex or our kids with divorce proceedings especially if they got messy. She is gone now, so I can now proceed which I am doing in a amicable manner. It will all be over soon.... Can I get an AMEN!!!!

SILVER.......I can relate to all of that. Not that I have been in the same situation.....but have dated men that were. I think for everyone circumstances are different. I know it is very easy *in many cases* for men to return to their wives even tho they are separated........and that can scare a person. But there are many.....who have been in he same situation as you. The hard part for a woman is......not knowing which is which.

I understand that, and I know it happens often too... Then again with any relationship, it can end tomorrow separated or not. He or she can decide it's greener on the other side of town or state haha... My ex abused prescribed meds,alcohol and cheated with more than one. She now has been with the same dude more than a year, and I wish them luck. I will always love her, but I would never ever want to put up with her again... I'm much happier without her

SILVER.....I know where you are coming from. Not with the alcahol or such......but with the cheating part. Who would blame anyone for being very cautious the next time round. Not sure if I still love my ex now. There was a time after divorce...years after..when I still felt I did......but am not sure any longer. I would not wish any harm to him. I guess I could say I loved him the same way I would with any human being....to help out if I could......but not sure about any love feelings in any other way. I feel too dead inside for that.....maybe im not......but thats how I feel. I do not hold any bad grudges......but one never forgets the heartaches from cheating or whatever.
GRUMBLE....your better off with your dog.......than a woman who is a dog....hehe....LOL LOL LOL

I think it seriously depends on the circumstances. Another separated woman I met recently doesn't want a divorce, she just wanted time apart. She said the problem wasn't really between her and her husband, but was moreso family sticking their nose into the relationship causing trouble.
Another separated woman I speak with on a daily basis went through a very similar marriage as mine. We both know we could never be back with our exes.
For me personally, it would be the equivalent of committing suicide.
I think  the reasons behind the seperation could be a good indicator as to whether or not the person might return to the ex.

She sounds much the same as my black and white guy. He gives me unconditional love. Well, as long as I make sure to play soccer, frisbee, adn throw a few tennis balls for him.
