I'm suffering from another identity crisis esp. when it comes to dating!
Maybe a third opinion would help.
Am I asian or american?
I mean, I was born and brought up here in a very americanized home and only speak one language but I'm obviously asian in appearance. But when it comes to the dating world I don't know who to find more of an affinity with. Asian guys for one thing seem so elusive and distant.

Agreed. You are an American. Look for the one that touches your heart, regardless of their ethnicity. Culturally, you are American. Be proud of your Asian heritage, but don't apply any restrictions on yourself in regards to where the man's ancestors came from. If a guy seems right for you, treats you with respect and makes you feel special, then it's all good!

If you want to date Asians date Asians. There's nothing wrong with "sticking with your own", a lot of people like to say there is....there's not. Many people do it they just don't announce to the entire world that they do it. So do what you want and be proud of who you are. Also, American is an "attitude"....
but don't apply any restrictions on yourself in regards to where the man's ancestors came from.
she's totally free to do that if she wants to.

Why does it have to be one or the other? If he's gonna be treated right, he can be Asian, American, and anything else under the sun.

Your comment about Asian guys seeming "elusive and distant" struck a chord.
I've had the same feeling about many women I have met of Asian heritage.
I don't want to overgeneralize, but you'd have a hard time convincing me that there isn't something in common in the cultures of many Asian countries that is behind this observation.
But I have to go with those who have voted for Asian women (particularly from certain countries) as being some of the most physically beautiful in the world.
