I think that you should go with whatever your heart tells you to do. See the RIGHT person may only come once in someone's lives and if you don't act on it then you could have regrets. she has already been around for a long time and it seems as if you know her pretty well. Your family will have somethings to say like every family does but you know what, they will get over it.
Proceed with this relationship and enjoy all aspects of it.

Piss on the gossip. If you like her, go for it. Your cousin has moved on to other but not necessarily better things and it is not like she is your sister in law or something. If your family yaps about it, tell them all that they really need to find something to do with their time.

So now I have this decision to make... Do I back off to avoid the certain gossip, shock of family members, and some hurt feelings, or do I go for a possible life long relationship with a great gal. Although we haven't openly discussed it, we have a huge attraction for one another... We are constantly thinking of one another.. The way I'm leaning is that people will be shocked initially, but in a short time they would get used to it, and many years of happiness may result.
step wisely to keep it as dramaless as possible but you have to follow your heart ... you cant let something like that spoil a possibility for you .... take your time , and , just dont tell any familly till you know its gonna work out ... why start issues or gossip if it doesnt work out ... ???

That's good advice Skid, but I have made a decision, and so has she that we better remain good friends... She has started dating some guy, but she still sends me texts often.. I think she could do better, but it's probably because I'm a tinge bit envious
