You are right , though, there's no point in talking to OP , she knows she cannot undo what she had done , so she is trying to justify her behavior. ( And it's obvious she knows MD is the place where she can always find certain breed of guys who'd say whatever a woman is expecting them to say )
As for chaperone tradition - it used to work for centuries , but nowadays , with homosexuals of all kinds getting out of their closets, even strictly same-sex friends' night out is likley to be nothing but euphemism for adultery. So, if there's no 100% trust between partners /spouses, the relationship makes no sense , since it's hardly a solution to be joined at the hip all the time, no relationship/marriage can possibly survive "short leash policy".

It would take a whole page to comment to the above post  The OP did nothing wrong and dosen't need to justify her actions. She posted here because she was feeling badly about a situation and she expected to share her feelings with some "kind" people, not people that would attack her. Everyone is entitled to their opinion as long as it is not just plain mean

(It would have been a whole different scenerio IF she'd been ASKED to please be a "chaperone". She wasn't...she was led -- or coerced -- into an uncomfortable situation by her so-called FRIEND   )

I support what Capital is saying - somewhat. He sounds like he at least means well about trying to prevent the tryst. But it really isn't Willows problem. Her friend makes those decisions, and she is the one to be held accountable.
What Cap said about "wanting to hear the right things" is correct too. She originally asked for advice, and he gave his, regardless of what you think of it. Isn't it ironic that we usually know the answers to our problems, but have to get reaffirmed by someone else?
