Being On The Look Out Tower

It's true there seem to be some disparities in the ages vs. profile pics. I also get the occasional Russian scammer who claims to be in the U.S. They are easily proven to be scammers if one uses common sense though.

As for pics, mine are real--for better or worse. Can't speak for others though.

Questions, questions...ask lots of questions right away! Stay in the control mode on exchanged emails so you keep safety on top. If they are in USA, they should be able to easily answer any USA questions as well. The english grammar is a good hint. If interest continues in email, offer to call from a pay phone for a short chat. That way your phone number is not recorded by the receiver until you are convinced.

Its like talking to a sales telemarketer on the phone, ask questions before you sell your body and soul. If it's not right for you, say no thanks and hang up.

I dunno about anyone else's profile but as far as mine goes, it's all legit. The pic is of me taken from my webcam and everything that I said in my profile's the truth.

I was doing some researching on the internet and came across the FBI website Web Snare cyber investigations. Here is the website in case anyone wants to read on what the FBI cyber crime investigations are. Also holds links to many other investigation FBI programs.

"Being On The Look Out Tower"...or "Wake-up Call, People"?

Oh cripes...ya mean I've gotta update my profile? ~whine and groan~ Maybe in my next reincarnation ~grin~ (before MD changes the format...again)

Well, I suppose that'd be wise for those who are actually lookin'...mine's such a mish-mosh of updates over the years that it effectively seems to keep the horney young fellas at bay . I suppose my "couple" shot works pretty well, too, lol.

But-but-but...how do I sign up for emails from Italy, Switzerland and Rio?

(I didn't realize til recently that ALL the uploaded pics are now available to everyone ...I'd forgotten what I had buried in there, but it sure brings back some ~ahem~ "special memories". Yep, I DID meet a real live Mountie on here...once upon a time. And the ~double-ahem~ 'bikini shot' is kinda ballsey for an old lady like me, but ChinaBull likes it, so it stays for now, lol)

Hey! Listen!!
Now you've made me feel really, really "guilty".
"Guilty" of ..."something". (I'm not really sure of what it is I feel guilty of.)

I don't like the camera much. I'm not really sure why....maybe getting my picture taken makes me feel a little vain.
(But that is not to say there's anything wrong with having pictures taken of yourself. *giggle* It's just a thing inside my head.)
That being said....the photo I have posted is a few years old.
But no deception was intended.
Honestly!
I kinda think other people may also "be guilty" of this. I had the idea that people's posted photographs were meant only to give OTHER people "an idea" of what the "posting-person" looked like!
But are you guys saying that the pictures should be relatively accurate as far as age goes too?
What about length of hair??
What about for those years when I wear a moustache??
I'm not trying to give you guys a hard time....these questions are sincere.
Doesn't this apply to what you were saying
If I'm just being silly...please forgive me.
(I think I'll get a new picture taken next week. *giggle*)

I agree with you chinabull - I just joined a few days ago - and my pic is 2 weeks old. I would hate to meet someone and see a look of horror on their face when they saw me for the first time.
It's better to have a bad pic up and meet someone and see a smile on their face when they see you for the first time.
Someone that is that worried about their looks (in my opinion) is probably stuck on themselves anyway.

Hello everyone - nice place here so far.

Now don't I look like a liar - I posted and there was no pic!! It will be here!! it says it is still pending.

Welcome lostttt. :-)
God bless you. I hope you enjoy "being" here.
These forums have a "village-like" atmosphere....generally-speaking. (Or so I have found.)

hmmm..I recently switched to new pics (6 months to 2 years old) because of all the whining about "old pics"... I dunno if I'm deluding myself or not, but I just checked out one of my pics posted on Palomino's profile from 12/2000 (one of the very first MatchDoc 'get togethers' ) and I don't really see much difference except for hair length . It seems that two or three different pics of a person (to allow for different lighting, mood, setting, etc) should give someone an idea, at least, of what they might expect in person.

I have to admit that there've been very few that I've met that were much different than I 'envisioned' beforehand...as a matter of fact, face-to-face they've all been 'enhanced' because of body language and facial animation...then again I'm a sucker for a great personality.

Just to let everyone know, rocknroll_45 is on the prowl again. He winked at me (again) yesterday, and he winked and emailed Star22. What a weirdo he is!

I don't have any experience with this rockandroll person. I checked his profile. He says straight up that he's married, doesn't want to meet anyone in person, just play via internet or phone. I don't see a problem with that. I'd just ignore him if he contacted me since I'm not interested in that sort of activity.

Again, what in the WORLD is wrong or annoying or abusive about receiving a wink or even an email from some who's so honest that he puts:

"Why not have some fun and become good friends, While your waiting for your mister right to come.
willing to relocate: No
marital status: Married
seeking relationship: Friendship, On line chat, Whatever works "

SO WHAT?!

(OK, just so's ya know, I've never been too thrilled with unwarranted paranoia -- just because a person has 'different' styles or morals, etc. is not necessairily a reason to "bust them" or (as he wrote) send "nasty gramms" (sic). "Baiting" is just as ugly as deliberate scamming, in my eyes.)

If someone annoys you BLOCK THEM!!!!!
