Ok, I know not all things are the same and what I just posted above is not true for all women but:
I have noted, in my family with my Aunts, My sisters and then with those with whom I went to school with it seems that as women get older in life their hair length gets shorter until one day, by some type of rite of passage they walk into a hair salon and come out with a dog hair do like a poodle or some other small dog. I do not mean to say women's hair is like dogs but only to compare the way it is curled up as it is.
So, what is with this?
Why the change?
I recall my sixth grade teacher, she is now over 90. she is still living in the house she lived in form before I knew her as my teacher.
Her hair is still as long as it was back then, to her waist.
And, get this
SHE HAS NOT AGED A DAY.
She still looks as if she in her mid 40's or mid 50's at the oldest and of that I am not joking.
The point of this silly posting is this:
I think that people all over the world as they get older end up acting like everyone else who gets older.
It is as if someone up front in the old age line says:
"Ok ladies, I'm about to slip off my cacky coil of a body and you now need to get old to take my place. So, you need to act, to think, and to feel as if you are old."
Well, in China I see the same thing. Women get to age 30 and it is almost as if they are ready to retire and go to their graves. You get to age 30 and not married you are too old to be married in some chinese cultural circles.
So, my suggestions are as follows:
REFUSE TO GET OLD THINK YOUNG ACT YOUNG TELL EVERYONE WHO IS OLD TO ACT AND THINK YOUNG IF ANYONE TELLS YOU TO ACT YOUR AGE TELL THEM TO GO FLY A KITE THEN YOU ACTUALLY GET A KITE AND SING ALONG WITH THAT SONG,
"Let's go fly a kite, up to the highest heights, etc and etc.""""

Not everybody was born with thick or manageable hair.
HOW ONE WEARS IT IS A CHOICE. And this is America.

Gotta go find that painting, huh?
For me, the only reason I wear my hair long is that my SO enjoys playing with it. If not for him, it would be short - everything's got a price, and long hair is high maintenance - mine's still thick enough at 65 that it takes a good ten minutes to dry it (in fact it's still damp then)...but the price is worth it to amuse him. It's got nothing to do with looking or feeling young to me, it's about the cost of maintenance vs. the benefits of keeping my guy happy...

Women's hair can thin as they age..And I hate to say it, but I am fairly certain this will occur as I get older. Right now, my hair may be long and lush but as I age, it will probably thin, then yeah, I'm more than likely gonna cut it. Just a side note, if you know anything about blondes, we usually have very fine hair. We can have alot of hair, but the individual strands are thin as hell. So...thinning hair for us, is not exactly the prettiest thing. Many balding men choose to shave it. We have the option to cut it short as looking like a queue ball has not quite become vogue.
So those women that you're referring to...it may have nothing to do with not living a full life.

I agree with Merch, it has nothing to do with a accepting the idea of getting old, but has more to do with thinning hair as we age.

Tira, I love you hair. And yes, I would kill to get that color. And frankly, I like it best shorter on you, it emphasizes that incredible face of yours.
