When you find someone you date regularly do you still keep up your profile?
After so many dates with the same person you take off your profile?
do you ask the other person to do that too?

When you find someone you date regularly do you still keep up your profile? It depends on what site. I wouldn't remove my profile form here as I'm here to interact in the forums, etc. If it were a strictly dating site, I'd hide it.
After so many dates with the same person you take off your profile? Depends on the situation and how fast it got serious.
do you ask the other person to do that too? Oh hell, no.

I made up my mind that when the time comes I will just plain ask her if it is time for us to delete our profiles. There is a strong maybe in my life right now, but we have not made any decision to see one another exclusively yet.

yes, if you have your profile for discussions/friends is different but if in your profile is still "looking for dating or LTR"

You should change your profile to indicate you're in a relationship but there's really no need to leave if you enjoy interacting in the threads, blogs and with your friends.

Mine's been here for over 6 years now. When I was dating, I did put "in a relationship" but I took that off when the b/f wouldn't put it in his profile.

Well, I would ask the b/f......if we ever come to that stage! Of course I would tell him I just come on here for the forums and don't ever expect to meet anyone. However I would like to go to one of these camping trips in a couple of years to meet someof the nice folk here!

When you find someone you date regularly do you still keep up your profile? ...Your conscious...

do you ask the other person to do that too? ...Their conscious... but you could discuss it.
========
...You cannot control anyone and what they decide to do, or how they do it, will give you a very good indication of how they are when not with you.
...With that, we have all seen the jealousy and games that can and have been played out in the forums. For some, it would certainly be a better idea to take their romance completely off here.
...To myself, exclusivity exists when two people agree to same, or once the line is crossed sexually, then it is monogamy until one or the other says that it is over.
...Not that it matters to myself, as I seldom open mail here anyway. Only a few are not filtered, two of those are male friends and all have my ISP email, or phone number. It all depends on your circumstances and like any relationship, ongoing communication is the key.

After so many dates with the same person you take off your profile? Depends on the situation and how fast it got serious. My hardline is 387 dates. After that I take it down.
do you ask the other person to do that too? Oh hell, no. I like to watch.

I'm here to laugh...So my profile stay's up. I'm not on any other dating sites. I think if anyone really read my profile they'd get turned off anyway. So mine will stay until I'm kicked off of MD.
...And I think my profile makes me sound un-dateable anyway! Hopefully

Yeppers, it's still here. My profile's alive on some sites (where I don't get mail and don't think about it) and hidden on others (where I do get mail but don't want to be bothered).
Doesn't matter to me if he has his profile up or not, and I'm sure it doesn't matter to him what I do - we both trust each other implicitly. He even knows that I've stayed in touch with former SO's who are still friends. Funny thing is, our third date was a bit emotional for a bunch of reasons, and I told him then that I'd be around as long as he wanted me to be...it was pure impulse when I said it, but little did I know how long that impulse would last...profiles or not.

If I had any profiles on dating sites (which I don't believe I do), I'd most likely let them slide, if not remove them completely; chances are I'd forget them anyway if I was seriously interested in someone.
The key phrase, for me, is "seriously interested"; that's when I ....hmmm...take myself 'off the market'???
However, this is the only site I've ever really posted on, and though I may not log in as often anymore, my profile remains. I like it here, and some people I consider to be friends... especially those I've met, so I pop in once in awhile. If a SO can't handle that, then perhaps we're not a good match.
As for asking them to remove theirs... not for me to do. I wouldn't want to be told what to do, so I give them the same courtesy. I would definitely take into consideration their actions, though.

Hi Em!
I don't see any problem leaving it up to talk to friends. Unless it interferes with the time you spend with your SO. (not you, Em!)

I believe it is a decision the two of you make together when the time is right......this hasn't proven to be much of a dating site for me..so I stay here for friends and posting those late nights I can't sleep.....and would expect whomever I am with to respect my wishes to remain here if indeed I wanted to, as I would respect his wishes as well. I use other dating sites to date from....and would cancel those if the relationship went exclusive...
