I'm going to be open and frank here. Let say you all met someone that you sense you could be compatable with, and you're willing to drop everything to move to that person, WOULD YOU? And also would you allowed that person to move to.

Congrats to 6000 posts what an achievement!
I would move to Aruba Willow! Great place! I was there twice in my life. Love the water.
On a real note: I would not even attempt to have a long distance relationship

6,000? OMG
I think when you are young it is easier to pick up and move for love, but when you have a home and career ...not so easy. If it doesn't work out, you will REALLY BE STARTING OVER.

Good Point Willow, but then would you take in that person? I mean if you don't know him but sense there is something there would you say Sure pack up if you like and come here.

I wonder if their responses would be similar....almost three years later???
Seems to me that age and situation have much to do with one's ideas about this. Children, jobs, aging parents.....the many other responsibilities that are part of having roots. I am at a point where I can say, "Heck yes!"; but it was a long time coming There would, however, be some major steps in between.

Though it looks like I'm not going to be the one moving.

Congratulations Sally!!!
I'm still not there yet or I'd be preparing to move to Kuala Lumpur...that was the latest ex-pat offer. I turned it down before it was even offered, but my situation is really different...I'm content with my SO. Both of us had "NO" for would we be willing to move, fortunately we live about 7 minutes apart on the same street. He's the biggest reason that I wouldn't be willing to relocate for work (my longest lasting love, going on 39 years now). OK, and I like the climate, I like the city and I'm hoping that the rumors that they'll lay the rest of us off in 1-2 years are true - normal package here is 2 weeks plus one per year of service...wonder if I can make it to a full year with pay, and health benefits...?
For a possible relationship...well, that's why I had 'no' in willing to relocate. I have a good job, own a home that's pretty much perfect for me, and I'm pretty comfortable here. If he wanted to move in...that could be a problem too. I'm really happy my SO is like me - we're both comfortable with ourselves and spending camping trips and weekends together is great (actually the more time we spend together, the better the relationship gets) but we both like going home to where we control the remotes, I can put onions in everything (he can't eat them) and he can add hot sauce to everything to his heart's content.

It's something many of us think about or have thought about .... Many threads on the same subject.
Me?
Steve & I first met almost 7 years ago. We live aprx 40 miles apart. That *little* distance was among a few things that caused us to break up for about a year. (That's when I started posting here in the forums)
I don't want to leave my home at this point. I still have three kids in high school & will maintain this stability for them. Steve has his own business & can work out of his home office (as he has been doing since his illness). His main shop is a couple of miles from his home. His 17 year old daughter lives with him now.
We have plans to live together after all kids are out ... We may marry before that but the moving in will wait.
Using Heaven's points: remote controls, hot sauce & onions. We both like & NEED our own space at this time.
And this is after almost seven years. No way in the friggin' world would I EVER, EVER invite someone to move in because I *SENSED* compatability ...

Hmmm sort of balance out some....Some said yes they would be willing to move and some said no, Some said yes they would accept someone to move to them and some said no....Interesting. I ask this question due to a couple of things that had happen to me years ago. 1. I meet a lady on yahoo, and this was before yahell got so screwed up, anyway she live in Maine and I live in Washington after a few months of talking in chat and email and phone she ask me if I would move to her and I said sure. So pack up and move to her and Wham things were great. Not just the sex part but the whole thing, her daughter love me as if I was her father. Well we were together for 2 1/2 years then her company sent her over sea. I was not able to go because she was in a housing program which the Company provided for her and her daughter. So I move to Calif to be with my kids. Anyway as time went on she found someone over there and hey I wish her luck. See it did work out. If only the frigging company didn't send her over sea. Snickers.
the other thing that happen to me was 2. Once again I met a lady on yahoo. But damn it was like only 2 weeks and she wanted me there with her NOW..But I turn her down, well she got ahold of a good friend and she offer him the same thing and he accepted. Well They now been together for 12 years and have 3 kids. I always wonder, if I said yes if that would not been me...But hey we still talk on messenger and I have no grudge against either of them...But for them it work out..MAYBE it might had work out for me but then again who knows, it might not had. The thing is that as my youngest daughter told me, Dad sometime you must take a chance in life and gamble and pray for the best. Heck if it don't work out there nothing stoping you from telling that person to leave or you packing up and leaving. Like I said in one of my post, don't open your trap and tell someone to get lost until you look deeply inside.

Hell, if I had my druthers I would live in central Oregon rather than where I am, someplace like Bend, Redmond or Christmas Valley. But I have a good job here in the teeming metropolis of Riddle that provides me with a living I am unlikely to get anywhere else. 401k, retirement, med benefits and the whole nine yards. I am stuck where I am until retirement.
