She came over on Friday in the early afternoon. We went for a cruise up Cow Creek, a road that leads into the wilds of the Oregon forestlands, following a rushing creek that is more a river than a creek. The far end of the road comes out into a tiny town called Glendale where we went to a rustic logging theme restaurant to enjoy the finest steaks and seafood to be had in a hundred mile radius of here. We chatted, laughed, joked and flirted while enjoying absolutely perfect food in a setting that captures the Pacific Northwest to perfection.
On Saturday morning we took off with no real destination in mind and ended up in the coastal tourist town of Florence, stopping along the way to enjoy a great Mexican dinner in the tiny town of Coquille. In Florence we walked along the waterfront, enjoying the numerous gift shops, boutiques and galleries lining the street. We browsed a bookshop, looked at old-time posters of various Oregon towns in their historic heydays, sampled gourmet coffee and enjoyed the ambience of the waterfront in general. The wonderful odors of seafood and chowder in the air almost made me regret that we had already eaten in Coquille. We had a great time and it was a wonderful weekend.
