I defined myself as wife and when that was taken from me, I had to dig deep.
We all have hats that we wear that contribute to the people we are but that does not make those aspects of our person the absolute definition of who we are. Many things and people have contributed to who I am. My family, friends, the things I've learned throughout my life, my interests, values, morals and character. But probably most importantly what defines me is my own sense of self worth, self esteem and how much I love me.
Oh yes, as far as other people's opinion of me, that's none of my business in the first place and matters not one iota in my self definition.

well, some people don't mind and are not discrimatory about race, some are...and depending on how they felt about was often the basis for how they would treat me...I learn't how to accept it either way...

 So sad......where I live we have one Indian (First Nation) tribe. Many of the people I work with have Native blood(blame it on those French explorers )....any kind of derogatory comment or slur is definitely frowned upon.,,,it's not that you just keep your thoughts to yourself, if you don't like it,,,,,,then YOU move....
My Aunt in Saskatchewan is a full blood Assinboine Indian
