To paraphrase what my friends above have stated:
What is this word you use?
Dating?
But it most certainly COULD affect dating:
Unemployment.
Time spent in a job search.
Income cut-backs.
Stress.
Reprioritizing a budget.
No extra money to travel.
etc.
crap
I thought I was depressed about the Cavs losing the basketball playoff game.
Now I'm REALLY depressed.

DVD rentals from McDonalds, Walgreens, Wal Mart, and now even blockbuster (in texas) are $1 a day.
dollar menu at fast food places, restaurants on pay day.
all you can eat buffet coupons.
cook your own food (best prices at HEB)
working out... free.
playing video games .... free
walking to a date destination (if it's close by, instead of driving)
cheaper ways to date .... adapt and sacrifice a little of our... whats the word... "stuck up ness about being cheap" ... and BOOM BABY, an easy way to date and save money. If the date complains, cut the date short and tell that person you're going to work to pick up extra hours to pay for a better date next time... that someone else will enjoy and be appreciated of. Next case.

After two years together I wouldn't call it dating...but it can sure be a heck of a lot of fun being frugal!
Campsite - 18 bucks a night.
Food - whatever it costs at home.
Moonlit night in front of a campfire with your SO - priceless!

Of course it affect my dating, as far what events were planned and so on. It even affected how our relationship progressed. The important thing was to keep in mind the economy and not be nearly as judgmental as we may have been in the past.
