I know it has worked for some ... and has worked out absolutely wonderfully for a few.. I think I wouldn't want to try.
Dating on the internet? The word *date* to me, implies two people who are interested in each other spending some time together. Sharing a meal... Wandering through an art museum ... Having a drink at a sports bar watching the Indians lose .. Listening to live music at a club ... ...or in the park ... Enjoying each others' company. Ending the date with a kiss ...or a make out session ... ...or sex ... I WANT the physical closeness in addition to the emotional connection
But OK ... Here we all are ... *Meeting* new people ... Getting to know many .... Feeling attracted to some .. Sharing emails & building a friendship .. Having a lust ... Wanting more ... and Now what?
Travel Meet Fall in love Now what? I'm here & You're THERE
and I am impatient

I'm too affectionate for a long distance relationship. And those of us who have chosen to have a ldr aren't as "affectionate" as you? Howbout we are, we're just more patient?
Could you think about who might be reading what you're saying before you post it? I mean I can see that you're new...so you don't know...but my boyfriend lives on an entire different continent =) He's here with me now for 2 more weeks after a few months of waiting. We've been together for almost a year and a half.
And we're both VERY, VERY affectionate people.

Could you think about who might be reading what you're saying before you post it? Do you think you could read my whole post? I did point up to another post and say YES! and add this guy ~> Here's the post I was pointing up to:
I'm impatient and If I am trying to have *a relationship* ... I want The Hug! The Kiss! The Snuggle .. the spoon ... the neck nibble ..the touch The sex, damnit All the freakin' time! I was merely posting from my point of view and did not try to imply anything about anyone else. I'm sorry you took it so personally. Perhaps you could try to avoid doing that in the future?

It is all about the timing. If your timing is off and you arent' on the same page, it won't work out. Life is short. If it's not going to work, you need to assess the situation and move on. At this point, marriage is not important to me. Quality is of the essence to me, not quantity.

Some people, like LGQ, can make it work. Some can't. It's an individual decision.

perceptions.....
I can see both sides of this.... and knew what LGQ was saying...the problem imho was that she did not make it clear that she was not replying to just two people but to everyone who might think that a LDR is a no go for anyone who wants/needs/desires affection..
wishing both of you the best in all that you do.....
( see....LGQ knows I am talking to her now......but did the other two? )
.........

The way it was worded sounded to me like it had a really snotty tone like "Well I'M too affectionate for a LDR" she might as well have said that those of us who have them don't want/desire affection. But that's the problem with the internet...you never really know how people mean the things that they're typing =)
If you didn't mean it like that, artcat, I'm sorry...that's just how I took it. That's not your fault it's how I interpreted it LOL
