"Marrying up"

I wonder why it has always been customary for women to "marry up".
Even nowadays , when women are mostly self -reliant and hardly need to be provided for , a guy who "married money" is still frowned upon by society and gets a stigma of "gigolo" , which may ruin his career, especially in politics..

I realy never heard of it being customary for wmen to "marry up" and men being frowned upon for doing it.

Gee, I guess I've lived a sheltered life.

capital: I wonder why it has always been customary for women to "marry up".

...For many thousands of years, it was a normality for the man to be the provider, so it does make some sense.

Aside from tradition and regardless of the fact that many women can be and are quite self sufficient, there are also many women who want to be needed and loved. I'm sure it's equally true for many men that, while we are ultimately solitary beings, it is so much more enjoyable to share, not only the things we enjoy doing but every day life as well.

It makes sense when you put it that way instead for making women sound like a bunch of gold digging wackos.

People are marrying later in life, I believe.
I know a LOT of women that earn more than their spouse.
I know some men that feel de-masculined by that.
I've known women that quit their great job after having children.
I've known both genders that "married up."

But a lot of them did really do it for love.

True, in my case at least.
We are both piss poor broke, but rich in happiness and soul.

LoL thanks Lori, but not yet,.
It is really weird though, we keep randomly popping the question to each other through out the days now.

So not marring up, more like marring sideways. Feels more equal, I have always said you can only be truly happy with an equal.

I love the confidence in your statement Signs.
It sounds so familiar.
