I've kissed a guy on the cheek after the 1st date...It was a lunch date...I didn't feel appropriate making out with him...So a peck on the cheek...

I would appreciate and respect a gentleman who ended the date with a kiss on the cheek. I agree with a few others,usually means he respects you and doesn't want to push anything physical.If he doesn't call,maybe it was to him like shaking hands with someone you won't see again???? ould be reasons he hasn't called.May have become ill,may have family crisis,may be shy and not sure how you felt about the date.Might be waiting to see if you write or call.Who knows what is in the mind of others. No point trying to figure out why someone di or didn't do something,It can make you crazy. Hope he calls you soon

i think it depends where on the cheek
if i like a girl, i'll simply aim to 'plant' it closer to her lips, and perhaps a brief hug or lingering hand on her back or waist/hip as i pull away

i've heard on a news report the a goodnight kiss, or kiss on the cheek is becoming obsolete. reports indicate the head, thats right, the trouser friendly kiss, is replacing the kiss goodnight/on the cheek.
to answer the question, imo it all depends on the guy. how he was brought up to treat women. you have to think, most guys would have sex on the first date, even the first hour of the date if they could.
you would have to feel it out, see how things go during the date. it could mean that he is very into you and he wants to take it slow, or that he was not into you and was letting you down easy.

It depends...
It could mean he is too shy to go for the liplock and afraid of being rejected. (usually would apply to a guy who is the shy type)
It could mean he isn't attracted to you that way but yet doesn't want to make YOU feel rejected. (usually would apply to a guy who is the confident, but polite type).
The end of the first date always presents that awkward moment. Do I kiss her or not? If I do, how much of a smackaroo does she want.
Do the guy a favor girls and make sure you give him a hint about what you WANT him to do.... preferably sometime not too long before the magic moment will be at hand.
If a guy can't read your signals, he has much less chance of doing what you want him to do.

DR....He was very polite and confident and did I mention HANDSOME?/ 
I think it was just the polite thing to do, as it was a Sunday afternoon lunch date and we were in the parking lot with God and everyone soooooo.....he may not have tried anything else anyway! If he did though.....I may have obliged a lip lock.....  
Good ideas though.....and I do hope a kiss on the cheek isn't becoming obsolete...as I find it sweet and leaving me wanting more....

...well actually the right... NO!! I wasn't complaining....It made me wonder what a kiss on the cheek meant and thought it would be interesting to read what people had to say! and believe me, it has been interesting....

I don't want a stranger's tongue in my mouth on the first date! And that's exactly what happened last sunday when I met up with someone that sent me a message here in MD! It was not a planned date...very impromptu. We exchanged some live chat on instant messenger for 2 hours and decided to meet up. He seemed like a decent guy in chat, and I made it totally clear to him that I was not looking for any kind of intimate hook ups.
We went to a popular hang out spot that had a decent crowd and the music was good. We talked for another two hours. During this time, the "Non-Drinker" had 4 kamikazes... but that didn't bother me. (I can never understand why people put things in their profiles that is not true lol)
I thought all was going well until he walked me to my car. I did not see it coming, but he took my hands, pulled me toward him and next thing I knew, his tongue was in my mouth. I was so totally grossed out! He also had a full erection. I pulled away from him and wiped my mouth. I wanted to gargle with Clorox!
Maybe it's just me, but I don't want anyone else's germs, plus I did not know where his mouth had been. It is so totally possible that he may have been "performing" things not long before we met up. (Hey it's possible!)
Needless to say, I did not see or communicate with this guy again.
