I've had a few done on myself. It doesn't really bother me, because the only thing they find is that I'm a lousy driver. 
But I was wondering, what the rest of you thought of them. Yay or Nay?

I have no problem about this....if it is done for the right reason...
where I do have an issue... is when people share that info with other people... who I may not want to know that much information about me....

no reason to check on me...I have a criminal record a mile long I'll tell you all about that begins with my first ever charge "armed robbery" that was a joke to be arrested for at all...I'm 2-0 in jury trials, and most of the criminal stuff I did was mostly all unfortuante stupidity on my part for allowing myself to be put in a postion to be charged with a crime at all.
if you want to know a person from a background check, then make sure when you do, to also take a look beyond any report and at their past lives to see what it has taught them...my belief is that some people grow up and mature sooner than others, I can admit it took me longer than most and I took a few hard knocks that were probably not necessary, but I've learn't a lot and what I now know is I only ever want to be nice or helpful to other people...so there!

I do it because I have a son to protect....I want to know if there is a sexual crime in their past. Other stuff can be overlooked. But certain things can make or break a deal.

I have no choice...my son and son-in-law are both deputies in my county and believe me, they do look out for their mama.....
Although my son has told me several times...."You'd better slow your ass down Mom. I'm NOT getting you out of any speeding tickets!"

Now?
Most certainly.
It's amazing what truths can appear
even after a long time together...
And what a punch to the solar plexus
to realize the gut isn't always as
perceptive as one might hope.

with the internet its also possible for an unscruplous person to find out who you are and things about you just from knowing yer phone number...so be careful who you might give it to!

This is interesting. At what point do you get the background check done? Before you meet? This idea could have saved me several years of drama for sure!! Those bad boys.....hot sex...hot anger...hot sex...

I've said thiis already many times before I think dating site should have that option included.
example I pay x amount for Identity confirmation and a background check. The background check passes.. my profile now says that my identity and background check has passed.
