Dating sites - scams?

Many of the dating sites provide no means of determining who is actually a paid-up active member. So you waste your time emailing or otherwise trying to contact "members" who are really just browsers. This of course is done purposely, so the sites can advertise the huge number of "registered" users, which entices people to join, only to discover that none of their prospects are actually members. Ugh.

all of our members are members. we have no control over who actually responds to another. a member can be a 'browser' or actually actively searching. they can also just be here for other features we offer.

all profiles have the approximate last time someone has logged in. we periodically prune our membership list of those who've been inactive the longest. it saves us database space, which is a consideration on an essentially free site like ours.

we have our share of 'fakes', spammers and scammers who show up, but we do our best to eliminate them as soon as we're made aware of them. we always ask our members to report those fakes asap.

btw, there's nothing preventing anyone from trying to contact a member who appears to have been inactive for awhile. most of the time they'll get a notification in their personal email and may log in again to check out the message out of curiosity (or lust )

Many of the dating sites ...
Yeah.. MANYof them do. But THIS site is incomparable!
No such things going on here! E-mail all you want! (Well, 100 per day, I understand, is the limit. I've never come close. You'll have to ask some of the chattier members about that.)

As stated above, not here. It's certainly easy to tell if someone's a paid member or not...not that it matters since even the free members have access to 90% or so of the available 'perks'. I became a 'gold' member even though the freebies were more than enough for me, but I wanted to help support a site that's provided so much interaction and entertainment (and frustration too, but that's just some people, just like real life).

I MD!

Paid membership is not required on this site. If you contact someone here, they always have the ability to reply.

I agree that the "pay sites" are frustrating, especially the ones where you can't even read an email without paying (or see who it's from). Often, people join just to see who contacted them and are usually extremely disappointed. I would never be a member of a site like that even though I have been long ago. MD is the place for me.

And then there are those of us who don't get email notifications.
