It's interesting to read threads from folks from Europe, particularly France,Holland and Scandinavia on threads about sex and value systems.A Frenchman's reply on another site's thread titled "used for sex" was awesome. It kinda proves my point about the Western/American value system being a by product of business and capitalism.
When a woman has sex with a man,she is seen as "giving herself to him" as if her soul rested somewhere in her vagina.Women inexperienced with sex are still seen by many as being more valuable for the long haul than a woman of experience. The Madonna/whore complex is ever alive and well.
I maintain that this is a throwback to the days of arranged marriages and dowries, where virginity actually protected a man's future progeny and inheritances with ties to family property, has very little or nothing to do with real feelings or committment or quality of relationships. It's an old ingrained system of values that has it roots firmly planted in dollars and sense.
Less capitalistic societies seem to have let thiese attitudes go somewhat.

Some things will never change.
In my youngest sons earlier days of being a teenager, he informed me he was going to marry a virgin. I told him, good luck my son. He told me that he didn't want to amrry a girl that had lots of sex before him with other guys.
Since then he has changed his mind. I guess he grew up and looked at the big picture. That you can not judge people on what they did in their earlier lives. Bless him.

Europe can do what it wants just don't expect me and alot of other people to follow their lead. America is a way more religious part of the modern world than Europe so of course we wouldn't have an anything goes attitude. I don't expect it.
Also what keeps us separate from other mammals is that humans attach emotional/mental involvement to sex so as long as that is the great divide I'll not share my body with every male that comes along. However, you can feel free to do so if you like as long as you don't expect me and others to approve of your behavior.

I don't expect anyone to approve or disapprove of my behavior or anyone else's behavior.I merely question why people behave the way they do and I question" traditional" morality and values.Unlike those who follow that camp,I don't make ANY judgements on anyone concerning their sex lives.
I merely question why certain things become the considered "norm".

Europe has a lot more time to adjust to sex than some of us. They ( most of them) are more relaxed about it.

So ONE Frenchman writes something about sex and the whole Europe is being pointed the finger at. I'm laughing. How 'bout this: I was born and raised from France, but I assure you that my concept is squarely the opposite of that Frenchman. Now, does that kinda disprove your point Thor?
To say that Europe "has more time to adjust to sex and that their people are more relaxed about it." (and what does that mean?..) or to state that one country is more religious than another is like poking at someone's forehead because of their background.
Some traditions are being let go because a new culture allows it. I don't see why 'norm' has anything to do with that.

No,it doesn't prove or disprove anything.I actually read posts from other Europeans who corroborated much of what he said. Also if you look at things like education, media, art,it doesn't seem as Puritanical as USA,that's all. There IS a difference generically.I didn't mean to paint all Europeans with a broad brush.

Why do Baptists never have sex standing up?
Because it leads to dancing.

I could bore everyone with stories we all know of our founding fathers and their perverse ideas on religion which have filtered down to our sexual mores of today, but I won't. Bottom line is we have been in a sexually repressed society for over 300 years and have yet to settle into what could be best described as "acceptable" sexual behavior. In other words, I'm a perv because I have been repressed over 300 years and am looking for sexual reparations.... Man, that's a heavy weight to carry.....

It has been more than once via converstaion w/an European (Beligian guy), or on TV that they've stated that the USA is more religious than Europe. Its not to figment of my imagination.

My own thinking.....Its to each of us to sort out our own religious, moral, values thinking...and live with what gives us mental, spiritual and emotional peace........to each their own and that said....we pick our aquaintances, friends and partners accordingly....
