Personally I would prefer someone being honest and telling me point blank that they are not interested.......If they say in their profile that they are looking for someone who is honest then you can send that that email saying you not interested after all they are looking for honesty now aren't they?

For sure, I want the person to be up-front right away rather than leading on.

Well, when someone says they're honest, they usually don't mean it, so telling someone you're not interested is kinda mean. I would do the old "I just came out of a long relationship" thing. Luckily for me, that would be the truth.

Is it mean to say 'I am not interest' Stating 'no interest' may be too direct and "blowing the guy off" if he's in a bad mood and then he may BLAST you back..... in my book (in this instance) you're making a Reply, right?? so the word "mean" is subject to Interpretation, not GUILT.....
or just not to say anything I think this is SAFER reaction because the Invisible answer is a "no"

This is a hard one...I feel most people on MD are trying their "personal best" to either make friends or find that special someone. I'd be has considerate as I could without leading anyone on. What's to say you just can't be a friend with this person and tell them that's all your looking for? They might turn into the best bud you've ever had! There's no reason to come across as mean or nasty towards a perfect stranger. What was that song about not knowing what God looks like (off topic, I know) if you walked down the street would you recognize him? Just reminds me that if we treated everyone with that thought in mind, it would be a different world.

I think if someone sends you an email and you don't reply, that's a pretty good sign that you're not interested and there's nothing wrong with that approach. Why press the subject if you get no return email. Geez. Move on.

If you aren't interested you should say so. However, there is a right and a wrong way to say not interested. There is no need to say "you're ugly, stupid, and you dress funny, and I wouldn't date your ass if you were the last living human". Just say, "I'm sorry but I don't feel any chemistry between us" or something similar. There is no reason to lie.

Toucher has it down pat.. Exactly right.
Toucher for President!!
think if someone sends you an email and you don't reply, that's a pretty good sign that you're not interested and there's nothing wrong with that approach. Other than being rude, there isn't anything wrong with that approach. But there is the possibility that person will take offense and react unfavorably. They 'should' just be the bigger person, forget it, and walk away. But not everybody does that. If we choose to treat others with disrespect, then it's hard to not feel we should share some of the blame for a bad situation.

Toucher is a real sweetheart and gentleman.
Some men would do well to listen and learn from him. Some women as well. Personally, touch has been nothing short of a true gentleman to me.

when someone says they're honest, they usually don't mean it, so telling someone you're not interested is kinda mean Can't speak for everyone, but when I say I am honest you can bank on it!! and I do mean it and I do not consider being honest with someone mean.. it's much kinder to be straight up with someone then let them think they have a chance to develop anything with me. Speaking of my single days......
Now that I am married, I still do get a few emails but they are usually copy and paste generic messages sent to random women.. so I don't feel special

Does this have to be that difficult? Imagine you are at a dance, and someone comes up to you to ask you to dance. Do you turn your back on them and act as if they never existed, or politely say, no thank you? How would you want to be treated. Myself when someone doesn't even bother to respond back, my thought is "what a bag!" Glad she didn't respond!.
Get enough of those thoughts about you running around you will eventually be found out.

It entirely depends on who’s receiving it. Some take it gracefully, many can’t. No matter how nicely you put it, it’s still a rejection, so you’ll have to decide if the person will accept it like an adult or get pissy.
If you get so many that to even reply to them all is a full-time job then, for one, you're way too popular and spoiled to be on a dating site, and, two, you simply won't have enough time to respond to everybody.
For those that just give a “Whassup?” or other such trifles, they don’t even deserve the effort of deletion, but you must in order to keep your Inbox tidy.

And Mo, a tidy Inbox is next to Godliness, I always say!
