I had a woman on a site not believe my name, and she got all huffy about it, like it was something wrong *I* did to her. I assured her it was the truth, and she kept at it. I told her, she was scary and told her go away.

I might have a problem dating someone named Chester
Oooh Eyes, Chester is sooo hot! He was our high school quarter back, on the wrestling team, and my neighbor.

Sounds like someone got a little too cautious. I dated a guy who wouldn't tell me his middle name. I asked 3 different times. I didn't realize it until later but he changed the subject each time. He was evasive about other things too. The emotional walls were up as well. We had some fun times but it didn't go anywhere. I'm not bustin' a nail tryin' to get in when he doesn't want me there. The name, or lack thereof, wasn't the problem, the rest wasn't right either.

Eons ago, when I was in college, I worked for a place where I verified the correct names/numbers on credit cards. Some of the ones I still remember ...
Donald A. Duck (saw several of them!)
Shanda Leir (say it all as one word)
Hari Beaver (was a female)
Kitty Katz
These are just a few. Every night we would have a contest to find the worse ones.Whatever were their parents thinking????

It'a not a bad name...pretty common in fact. But I think I would pass up a guy that was named the same as my ex husband. Would be too weird.

Pervy,
You did bring something to mind, and it's a good idea too. Just use a term of endearment.
Unfortunately, Horace might be Hor Hor.

Sometimes when I go to a restaurant, and they ask for my name to wait for a table, I just say "errr, .....Johnson!".

name's no winner, but I truly could not date a man named. . .
Harold Cox. . .or Richard Head. . .or Michael Hunt.
I used to work with Richard Burns.
My Great grandmother's name was Zella with no middle name.

Yeah, my father-in-law's name was ML. Didn't stand for anything, his parents just ran out of names and I guess went down the alphabet looking for two they liked. It gave him worlds of trouble too.
I used to work the polls at our local voting place, and we were given a list of the names of all registered voters. There was a J.D. on there. It was listed as JDNMN Smith. I looked up the code and it stood for JD (no middle name) Smith.
Remember all the author jokes we used to tell at school? On the reading list: Glass Bleachers by Seymour Butts, I Ate Too Much by Ima Hogg, etc. Were we ever that young? And do those make anyone else giggle still?

I have always not liked particularly my name.......
I've always not liked mine too. I was supposed to be Barbara but mom's roommate in the hospital was named Barbara, and she couldn't stand her, so because of a fit of pique I ended up being Mildred. Worse yet, it was my mother's name, so I ended up being 'little Millie'. I think I've finally forgiven mom, but I'm not absolutely sure that all the resentment's gone...

Great answer about Eleveninch69/dick and lick. I personally think that a person's given name is special and unique to them. Whether the name is ordinary or unique makes no difference. I enjoy the challenge of finding the unique in the ordinary and visa versa.
My name is Raquel. I used to hate it because it was different, but now I actually appreciate it, even if most people continue to call me Rachel. Ha
