I'm real curious...does anybody ever do any real dating on Matchdoctor.com? I like that they have made improvements on this site (barring the nuisance ads) but it seems to me that this is just another place for entertainment or online socializing, and I get plenty of hits, but when it comes to an actual "date", nada. I take that back somewhat-I did meet one guy here FTF, but he turned out to be a real sicko and not worth mentioning at this point. Does anyone share the same opinion that I do? I'm beginning to find real-time meeting more fun and productive (and I never thought I'd say that when I was in college and the oldest freshman, so I turned to online dating to seek out older men.) If you get busy and do enough research, you CAN find enough meeting places, with less of the guesswork then is involved in e-mailing Chatterbox Chad in Co.

dating from here? done it. not impressive at all. if you want to go for dates here, get to know them really well and don't rush into a date.

I'm just the opposite. If I'm interested in meeting someone, get it over with. Why waste time? I could be lusting over a photo, and the emails could be wonderful, but it doesn't mean much until you see the person face-to-face.
If I spend a long time writing back and forth, and the individual turns out to be nothing like I expected (in a bad way), I feel I could have been using all of the wasted time looking elsewhere for a great man.

I've observed the same thing you have. Some do seem to date a lot, and most of us seem to just hang out in the forums and do a lot of emailing. Don't get discouraged though. You really only need to find that ONE perfect date, in order to begin a lasting relationship.

This site is definately different for some reason. I had tried two other sites before this, and have met real people on both. I joined this one about the same time, and nada. I think to only be able to im someone with paying membership is kind of a turn off, cuz I just dont have patience to wait forever,I want to speak immediately, and dont want to give every wacko my messenger name. And I am cheap, so you will never see any gold next to my name. If I had money to blow...I'd just buy myself a man!!!

I did meet someone in person a couple of years back from this site, but we didn't start dating. She lost me when she said she had been abducted by aliens. She was serious about it too! She had this whole, big, long story full of details. She also told me she keeps a loaded handgun in her house.
See, it's not only the women who have to be careful.

I dated one person from this site who caught my interest and happened to be in my town! I mean, like I could walk to her house. And we dated for a bit until we realized that we were just too different to keep it going. But it was fun for a while. No regrets.
However, I was lucky. Finding someone you're interested in and is interested in you who is close like that on this site apparently doesn't happen often almost anywhere.
Most of the others on this site in my area I'm just not interested in for various reasons I won't go into. So, I casually wait to see if anybody new pops up.

Like others here, I seem to "click" with people who are very far away. It sucks! I notice on people's profiles that they put they will relocate but when it comes down to it they rarely will. You definitely get more hits if you will at least say you will relocate so I guess I can see that. It's just more difficult when you're older and have roots planted deeply where you are.
So, in answer to the question, I've not dated very many people from this site and I've been a member for years! I actually have had better luck dating wise with the higher dollar sites like match.com. Not advertising for them but I met some really good guys on there. Haven't had the same luck on here though. I can name at least two guys from the forums that I would date in a heartbeat if we lived closer but we don't, sooooo....

I can think of only three I met in person from here. That is actually the lowest ratio from any site for me considering how much time I have been here. One was a perv. One just did not go anywhere because I blew him off for someone else, and when I ended it with that guy he was then no longer available. And the last one, last week actually, was a good guy and cute, but he did not treat me quite like I wanted to be treated.
So that is three guys in like three years. I may be forgetting someone. It just rarely seems to get anywhere from this place for some reason.
I can meet a decent prospect at least once every two or three months on other sites. Sometimes more.
The forums are great here though. It is like you have a whole dating consultation team.

Ya'll nailed it! I'm glad I got company on here .
Some of you may get offended at what I have to say-but i find that looking "just for friends"on a quote "dating" site, is a little strange. Because I think someone with halfway decent social skills and personalities can find that all he/she wants in real time. Not that I find this forum a bad idea, I think it is escellent and sure beats endlessly e-mailing social degenerates I wouldn't be interested in anyway, back and forth.
My problem with the guys on here kind of falls into two categories-I Want to Get Laid or I Want You to Come Up and Marry Me. It can't be that hard to find someone who is willing to meet for drinks and just go from there? MAybe electronic socialization just ain't the thing for me.
