So far they have 3 investigations going right now in 2 states. Its only the beginning....Myspace.com has more than 50 million members including teens. A playground for predators.
The predators are of all ages and work areas. Even one fireman was arrested today!

Well MySpace has a rule that a member has to be at least 14 years of age...(quite young I must say), then they do warn members not to give out any personal information. Another popular site for teens is called Facebook.com. Through an investigation interview with them, they say that a member that someone that tries to get into a profile that is not in that school area, is denied access.
Starting next week, predators will be shown on national television. They will be going to jail and most likely to prison. Many predators are men looking for young boys. One of them is a male teacher.

Kirk, yes he got arrested. There only working in 3 states as of right now, the numbers are so high on teen predators. All we can do is warn parents to monitor their kids on the computers. Also FBI agents pose themselves as a potential teen on date and chat sites to find the predators.

I used to hang in a kids chatroom on a kids site my daughter played on and still does...I cannot begin to tell you of the predators and sexual role play that went there. (--Ask me for the addy to my homepage I still have the screenshots)
The kids them selves ( teens) would get into graphic cybering role play. I would report them, ( not like it did any good) and a few times actually reported it to TCMAEC-- (Missing and expoloited children- sex predators branch).... I still have the logs of conversations. 
I would try to tell kids I ran into there not to trust who they were talking to, because someone may say they are a kid and be an adult in disguise.
I think childrens games sites, should NOT have chat rooms!!!!

No one checks that. I have a friend who has a 13 year old daughter who's been on My Space since she was 12. How would one possibly check the age of a person there?
Personally, since that site is drawn to predators, I think it should be shut down. But then again, that's probably a moot point considering that within hours another site just like it would pop up.

I've seen a couple of profiles here that make me a little nervous. They aren't a threat to me because I'm not interested in an 18 year old who looks closer to 12 and seeks face to face meetings with men over 40.

having grandchildren now..i plan to teach,teach,teach them about sickos on the internet..
the internet can be a great place for friends, info, etc.
but like everything else, there are people who abuse it and use it..
i am not going to wait for the police or any other agency to catch these sickos, i plan to educate my grandbabies that they are sick and need to be put away..
it is awful that my grandbabies are on under 6 years old and have already been taught my their parents about their private places and that no one touches them..

Im with ya on that one Blue.. My youngest learned at an early age about predators...not just online or strangers.....most predators are friends and family!

One of the predators they uncovered was an agent working for homeland security. No, he was not on duty. Another was a criminal investigator. 
The Dateline program will be repeated on MSNBC starting tonight.

I have a 14 yr old boy & 13 yr old boy-girl twins @ home. The computer is in the family room where I can always see what they are doing. If I am not home...it is OFF!!
These Dateline shows have scared the hell out of me. All 3 go to that MySpace thing but their info is locked unless you have their password which they share with friends. I like to think that I can trust my kids. But they ARE kids & as parents it is our responsibility to monitor, teach, learn, communicate...and develop the trust so they know they can come to us with any problems, questions, concerns.
Hardest but most rewarding *job* in the world...parenting.

We were warned about my space at my daughter school.
SHE is FORBIDDEN to go there. She uses the PC at night for 2 hrs. 3 on weekend nights and It is where I see it.

I contributed last night in asking a series of questions as a concerned parent on that site. Mine are not publicly posted as yet. But this gives parents and concerned people on what is being done and how. (Peej), she is extraodinary in what she does to help our societies here on net.

There is NO such thing as rehabilitation for a child molester/predator/rapist. That urge never goes away and is always in their mind. I know this for fact, I made the mistake of getting involved with a man in 2002 and after we were dating I found his name online on the offenders list of Gwinnett County Georgia for rape and aggravated sodomy. He could easliy do it all at again at anytime, I know how he treated me and the signs were there and I kicked him out the door so fast
