It has been said that the eyes are the window to the Soul.

What is it within someone's eyes that either draws you to want to get to know them or has you turn around and walk away?

What types of expressions move you to move closer or move you to back away?

I don't think it can be described with words, AngelLight. It is instead a feeling, a sensing of the person that emanates from their eyes that either draws me in or repulses me.

Best I can do is that it is looking with my inner Self through their eyes to their inner Self and responding to the connection of our souls.

Window To The Soul

They say the eyes are window to the soul
Through them we see
the Past, Present, and Future.

In the eyes of the old
we see knowledge and life.
Knowledge of things that were and things yet to be.
We see life as it was, full of love and sorrow
full of understanding,yet also innocence.

In the eyes of the young
We see tomorrow,
We see their hopes and their dreams.
Their fears of who they are
And who they will be.

In the eyes of men we see pride
and a need to be loved.
We see the burden of family
and the little boy yearning to be free.

In the eyes of women we see determination
and a fear of a world full of harsh realities.
We see a mother's love and a daughter's devotion.
We see passion, fire, and a pride from within.

Yes, the eyes are definitely a window to the soul
but just like with any window....
there's something different
each time you look inside.

Eyes have always been something that have drawn me toward a person. My granddad always said that you could see the individual's soul thru them, me thinks he meant that if one watches the eyes of the person speaking, you can feel his emotions, (he said the pupils dialated when the individual was lying, they danced when the individual had genuine gusto and umph and happiness towards life, and they told sadness when there was grief or hardships in their life). I cannot say for sure this is how others would feel, as this is my lesson from a man I loved, these were his guideposts for me. What draws me toward that person is the twinkle of life that shows. There are some great profiles here with that type of picture, the one you see combined with a killer smile that makes you feel the drive, the life. The individuals whose eyes are cold, hard, black, bottomless when you look into them, this is the person that I would not be drawn toward.

The expression of curiousity.

Curiosity to who and what I am. No preconceived notions.

GREAT
question Dwain. I can't say for sure that I would be able to see the whole soul from a person that had a light hazy look in their eye or eyes if that was what I was using as a guage to look deeply into her soul? I am being honest here that I just don't know if a lady were blind in one eye or both it this expression is valid........does it mean she is without a soul hardly but what would the chemisty be?

Great point. So if the eyes are the window to the soul and the eyes are clouded what do you gauge the soul by? Initially of course.

Well, there's always the fact that when looking at someone or something beautiful to us, our pupils dilate...I think this is the physical basis for the feeling of being drawn in, or 'drowning' in someone's eyes...we recognize the other person is attracted to us, and if we're attracted to the other person, of course our pupils are doing the same thing...voila...chemistry.

You can read a person in their eyes. I love to see a man's eyes go all soft when he looks at me. You can see laughter in a person's eyes, lust, hardness, anger, lol, I hate a gleam in a man's eyes, my date on Sunday had that. Study people's eyes, you will find them most fascinating. That phrase means that you can see what a person is feeling by looking in their eyes, and you can. As far as I am concerned, no matter what else a person is or has, the eyes have it.

It is true , Eyes tell's all. Eyes are very expressive. It tells many things when you look into them, deep within them. The sparkle, the love, the pain, the lies. When my kids were younger I use to say Look me in the eyes cause I tell can if your fibbing to me. Needless to say like when they broke a window from playing baseball and the *I didn't do it * syndrome I could look into there eyes and know which son did it. Eyes are beautiful whether they be of all colors or even one eye. Eyes are the Soul of who we are.

The eye’s retina actually is formed from brain tissue. Both the retina and the optic nerve grow from brain tissue during embryonic development.

So, in a sense, to look into someone's eyes is to look into their mind, their sentience, and maybe even their soul.

I've met eyes that have near-literally pulled me into that person.

I've also met eyes, those "dead" ones, that not only leave me cold but scare the heck out of me...I swear those are people without a soul. ~shudder~

Also lets now forget the eyebrows. One of the most expressive parts of the anatomy and work very well in conjunction with the eyes. Someone was speaking of the eyes going soft......precipitated by the eyebrows relaxing and allowing it to happen.
I had coffee with someone awhile back, she said why are you staring at me. I told her I was reading her eyes, didn't cut it she couldn't let me in far enough to see anywhere near the soul. I was in hopes for but not to be.
When the connection is there its there.

When I first meet someone, it is always the eyes that I notice first.Because I do believe that the eyes are the windows to the soul within`.At times they are filled with truth, and sometimes they do lie. They can express a multitude of feelings from anger to passion, from hate to lust and from sorrow to joy. Sometimes they playfully dart about seeking others that they can flirt with. At other times, they may seek to hide and quickly avert any type of direct contact. We just need to take the time to really look into the eyes and look for the passion that lies within each and every one of us. The eyes are a most valuable asset whether you are looking at them or through them. Perhaps we need just to take the time to see the possibilities in our eyes and of those we love, and thank the stars above for this wonderful gift.

The eyes have it with me! When I meet a date for the first time, I make it a point to look him directly in the eye as we talk and see his reaction. You would be surprised the number of men that have "nothing" there. And...nothing like that ZING you can get when you connect!

I agree with the above. I have met men that had eyes that looked as dead and empty as the shark on Jaws. It is the ones that have that "twinkle" in them that attract me. And no, I don't think it is really something that you can explain to someone who doesn't see it themselves.
I can tell within 5 minutes of meeting someone if I could EVER be attracted to them.
