I'd rather be asked out by the man, but I have a couple times called up someone and asked if they'd like to go eat with me. I don't think there's anything wrong with a woman asking a guy out, but I guess I still feel it should rest on the guy's shoulders so to speak. Oh, and on a first date or meeting, I've always tried to pay for my own meal or movie or whatever. Just something I prefer doing, when allowed.

I don't think there is anything wrong with woman asking a man out, but having been raised in the old school - I wouldn't do it myself.

Does this mean I've been going about this dating thing all wrong? Should I just skip the asking him out for a date part and propose?

Yes Classy, just cut to the chase...
And if he runs, chase him down and cut him up!
Veirly verily, I say to thee -- if men be-eth as clueless as women testify, make him an offer he cannot mistake.

I won't have to cut him up. As you can see, I have a rifle. It could be considered a shotgun wedding.

Would you ask a man out?
Yes Ladies, please do....I'll wait.
(checks watch...looks up, whistles a tune...contemplates the origin of the Universe...checks watch again....wonders why it's taking so long....thinks what's in the fridge for dinner...gets all tingly about getting ravaged in Mt Pleasant during the Michigan get together....wow, that Judge Judy is really raking that poor sucker through the coals...checks watch again...sheesh, this is taking a real long time?...)

I've done the asking more often that not. I have no problem asking out a man that I'm attracted to.

First date, would prefer to be asked...guess I'm just old fashioned. After that, I don't mind asking though.

Dang it, Mo! I got your voice mail. I was hoping I could pull you away from Judge Judy.
You had your chance. Guess it's TV dinners for you tonight.

On the other side of the fence, I am a guy who appreciates a woman asking me out. There is really no reason why men must do all of the asking, and if women can take the initiative, that could double my chances of finding a great partner.
My thought for the gals is to go ahead and ask. You might get lucky.
