I remembered this after reading another thread about women who ask men out for a date.
Years ago I was building a fence along the road one sunny afternoon when a car stopped and a neighbor gal got out and came up to me and directly said "Why dont you marry me and I'll build your fences for you?"
She probaly would have made a good fence builder,if that was what I was looking for!
Just wondering if anyone else has been proposed to.

Doesn't it suck for a woman to want to marry a guy, but that he doesn't propose? I could use some advice on this.. How does a woman propose a guy?

I have never been asked and can't see it ever happening to me. I think if a lady were to bring it up in a conerstation rather than just say "will you marry marry then that might make it easier. I would think of something along this line . We have been going out a while and we spend all spare time together. Ww both want the same out of life. Would'nt it make more sense if we just got married. I guess the worse he could do if is change the subject. I was just thinking of something non traditional as it might be easier and it just seem's like the logical way to go.

In my case, my ex, her family and friends just started making plans and spending big money almost two years before the actual wedding. By the time I fully realized that I was getting married I felt kinda stuck and went ahead with it even though Iwasn't happy.

Well, I couldn't see myself asking a man to marry me, but I suppose I can't be the judge of that until I put myself in that kind of situation.

Lol, I have done it in a teasing way, not really meaning it. But if you are really wanting to ask a man, the best way is to probably just be straight forward about it, then you will know for sure where you stand. You could say something along the lines of, "I have been going with you for this amount of time, and I love you. I really want us to get married. Can we talk about marriage and how we feel about one another?"

Some guys are shy, and some are terrified of being turned down.
Just ask.

Aw Sponge, I think you should have spoken your heart right when you realized that you felt being in a dead end. Look at the consequences now.. It's sad. I wish you had said something before marrying her if you didn't want to or even that you weren't ready to. I couldn't imagine myself in your shoes right now, thinking about the "what ifs"..

I was in a similar situation about 14 years ago. A girl I was dating wanted me to move into her house & eventually get married. Her parents knew mine, same church, everybody talked about what a good idea it was. But by the end of 6 months of dating, I knew it wasn't a good idea & broke up.
Yes, we only dated 6 months and it didn't take her long to want to get married!

Easier said than done. I don't think I could just ask. How about this.. What's an obvious and catchy sign a woman could do to let a man know she wants to get married?

I've been asked a couple of times, both of whom I turned down. Both times were in my younger and richer days and I think the reasons they asked me were not for love! Since I am neither young nor rich anymore, the next women that asks me may be asking for the right reasons!
I think that a woman has equally as much right or responsibility to be the "asker" as opposed to being the "askee" these days. But if you just want to give "the signs".... well, leave out the monthly Wedding Planner magazine!
