I see thread postings that are nothing more then fantacy, no correlation to todays reality......and I have to ask myself....is it really possible to go through life and live in the today world....when our minds are taken up with ideas....that have no reality.........today ?
Are they no more than escapes from functioning in an adult, mature realization of what it actually takes to survive today, and to accept the mature responsibility of a healthy, mature, mentally functioning, reality of a man/woman relationship......in an adult world......
We would all like to become children again...letting others take care of us...make our decissions for us....not have to accept responsibility, but is that really a healthy way to view todays life and liveing responsibilities???
I don't think so...but would like others points of view.....to reflect on......care to share some rational views on the subject????

For one thing,, love is not a rational emotional. If it is for some one then, they are going to find it hard to love.
We need fantasy, to be able to get away from the reality of the world. To dream. To create.

Fantacy.....concerning love...of course...we do...to add to the depth, emotion and enjoyment of living that love.....and seeking it..and sharing it...hoping and believing in a future.....and loving
I agree..but...its called dreaming and having dreams....but it has to be based on reality also........I can dream and fantisize about the sharing of that dream and sharing that love...based on some sort of reality...dreaming of sharing something special with the person I love...Yes Dreams are wonderful...
But is it logical to fanticize.....living in a tree house, in the jungle....thinking all survival needs will be met and everything provided without my being responsible?

Well to me it is possible..my fantasy is to live a simple life away from all the bitterness and hate in the world. And yes if it meant living in a treehouse I`d be more then happy to do that...this is my fantasy and its real..and it has nothing to do with romance..it has to do with my own wants and needs..Fantasies can be about other things besides love.People fantasize all the time about things ..cars..vacations..having kids..Kids fantasize about going to college..and theres nothing wrong with fantasizing about what may or may not happen in the future..And those have nothing to do with love. But thats just my opinion.

We would all like to become children again...letting others take care of us...make our decissions for us....not have to accept responsibility,
So untrue. I don't ever want to be a child again, but I do sometimes like doing childish things. I think that is one of the reasons I get along so well with children. I can relate to them on their level.
I've been independent for more years than I can count, so letting someone take care of me is not on my agenda. I want to 'share' with someone.
I have a mind of my own, and I can think quite well for myself. I don't need anyone to make my decisions for me, although I will ask for advice in some areas. I'm stubborn, but I'm willing to listen.
I'm quite responsible. I'm retired, educated, a homeowner, my car is paid off, I'm not starving. Oops! I need to pay some bills today.
Aside from all that, I believe we sometimes need to step out and take that leap of faith. How often have our fantasies become realities? I relate fantasies to dreams, and if we aren't able to dream, to envision, how dull life would be.
Dreams can come true. How real is that? I don't think it is a matter of 'best'. It is more being willing to allow yourself to escape reality, even if it is for a brief period of time.

Classy.... I relate fantasies to dreams, and if we aren't able to dream, to envision, how dull life would be.
For the most part, I agree.....dreams can become realities....and if we didn't have dreams to work towards....what else would we possibly have...dreams are what motivate us and our productivity.....to be responsible humans and adults.........Like young people who dream of getting an education...so they work hard to make that happen....or a young person wanting to be a doctor or actor....it takes planning, hard work, sacrifices...determination to reach those goals.....
I equate.....fantasies...as to living in an unrealistic state of mind...thinking we can take our selves someplace where there are no responsibilities .... when folks say....material things have no importance.......material things put a roof over our heads...give us an auto to drive where we need to go....the sheets on our beds...give us warmth and comfort while we rest.....money in the bank allows us to pay for the services we need and put food on our plates.....Working allows us some luxuries....such as trips to see loved ones, vacations to rest up, to face additional work responsibilities.....are not all of these material things......and I cant see many of us wanting to give these up......
Many years ago...while raising my children, working and being a single mom.......I was asked....What would you do if you were lost in the woods.....to me the thought was wonderful and I answered......I would totally enjoy it.......
I was told ....my answer was unrealistice....chuckle...but to me...at that time...with all the pressures of the responsibilities.....it would have been a luxury.....an escape.
So maybe we first need to define the difference between Dreams and fantasy.........
Dreams...........reachable goals
Fantasy..........escape, from reality and responsibility...... or that is how i would define them
wheeeeeeeeee spell check ....I love it

I dont see your reasoning in that statement sissy.
We?
The only folks that I can see in todays world that follow what you said are the elderly that cannot take responsibility because of their age.

Lucius Beebe Memorial Library :
High Fantasy, the main hero in character mirrors the conflicts, flaws, and virtues that are universally shared by all of us in our everyday search for happiness and accomplishment.
Since everyone is entitled to their own opinion and since I`ve stated mine I`ll go back to my fantasy world.

Dream:
To indulge in daydreams or fantasies: a goal or purpose ardently desired: to consider as a possibility: a state of mind marked by abstraction or release from reality.
Fantasy:
The free play of creative imagination: The power, process, or result of creating mental images modified by need, wish, or desire: to portray in the mind: To indulge in reverie: daydream.

Janka....your correct...my use of "we"....was too all inclusive....I was thinking of the joy of Christmas...seen through a child's eyes...before the reality of who...does the shopping, decorating....putting it all together...the fantasy we live in as a child...when we still believe there is a Santa Clause and a Tooth Fairy....
Maybe fantasy....would be a child's world and dreaming an adults.....the difference being whither it could become reality.
Hiwayman....I hear what your saying....I've been an adult, with adult responsibilities since I was 17.......reality makes it hard to fantasize.....

Posting threads that are pretend is at least not lashing out at people and trying, or accomplishing, making them feel bad.
I think if we do not allow ourselves to fantasize, to dream, to sometimes pretend in a fun way (not loony bin type) we will become very hardened people.
Why do we enjoy children so much as we get older? Because they laugh and play, sing and dance, and dress up and pretend? They are so pure and open? Maybe some of our fantasizing is longing to be just what they are-carefree. Worry-free for a brief moment of time.
I think a lot of people know when to separate the fun from the fake. Just my opinion.
Let the children's laughter, remind us....

We all see things differently. Children remind us to let go of the stress of the reality world we live in. Cause there minds can't comprehend what would lie ahead of them. They see things differently. When we shake the reality of the day and are amongst children we learn and watch through there eyes. I will always be a kid at heart. Let myself go into my own Dreams and Fantasy!! Without Dreams what do we have?
We always Dream of things daily or weekly or bi-weekly (just had to make a ) My dear Grandmother had dreams and fantasy until her death at 83. She use to say Dreams are what you make of them. Dreams and Fantasy is what makes us deal with reality life in a better way. Plus it is good to keep the mind stimulated!!!!!!! *Snickers* here and I mean that in a good way

Jester, dear friend, you'll survive. We all learn to go on. I was crushed beyond belief to learn that pro wrestling was "entertainement" and not a competitive sport.
