If you could take out three things before the blaze, what would they be? (Assuming there is no one in the house at the time of the fire.)

This has already happened to me, and it's devistating. The first thing I buy anyone I have heard has had a house fire in my area is a disposable camera, so they can start capturing new memories. The second thing is clothes, blankets and pillows, because not having your own is another very strange thing...and the blankets and pillows can be comforting. I recommend anyone that has heard of people having a house fire immediately jump to help, it's the loving donations that keep your spirit going when all else seems to have been lost.
I managed to rescue some pictures, but lost so many more.

Actually, it was a flood, and not a fire that destroyed my home.
What I did, because insurance did not cover this loss, was to apply for an emergency disaster home rehabilitation grant.
It took a year to rebuild my home, and I had to get all new stuff.
The lesson I learned is that stuff is just stuff, and you can always get new stuff.
People cannot be so easily replaced.

I left my ex-wife with everything when I left her.. the house, all my belongings etc, and only took one suitcase of clothes with me. IF I had had the chance to take 3 things, they would have been my photos, my poetry, and the suitcase that my dad gave me which he had had with him during the Second World War.
