Oh Hilly, you just had to go and get things stirred up didn't ya???
Lets see, had an acre garden. Put up around 120 quarts of beans every year.
Tomatoes,,,around 150 quarts a year there. Not to mention my favorite,,,red potatoes. Some so wonderful you just brush the dirt off on your shirt and bite into it while you are still in the garden!
Oh, and making saurkraut too. If it could be canned or put in our root cellar we planted it.
We did end up buying one of those outdoor wood stoves though. It was a Hardy and we loved it. It also heated our hot water heater for us.
I can fish, hunt and do the dirty work of skinning, and trying to get all the hair off that there squirrel!

Well ah knew you didn't catch no 74 pounder with a pole or noodlin'. Thing woulda pulled ya in or bit your arm off!
I was raised in a tiny little place called Stringtown right off Beaver Dam. I can bait my own hook and ate many a meal by pickin' apples straight from the tree or berries from the vine when I didn't wanna take the time to go home. I could (and did) run barefoot down a gravel road and climb a tree clear to the top. I know what it's like to use an outhouse and was so poor at one time that huntin' and gatherin' was the way to put food on the table.
Know what a jillikins or a wooley boogey is? And of course you DO know what noodlin' is, right?

Yep, you know what noodlin' is. I'd never do it either... I like to know where I'm puttin' mah hand!
Jillikins and Wooley Boogeys are country for jungle where I come from. Like if you're goin' out through the woods and come to a really tangled up patch ya say, "Ah ain't goin' out through them jillikins (or wooley boogeys)."

Im glad to see your not a drug store cowgirl
I haven't tried that Zestful,I use shirmp, cut shad or live perch for the flatheads.

Yep, Zestful. I heard of it. Puttin chicken innards inna gunny sack. Heard of usin whole chickens too. Also heard of sinkin a gunny sack of dogfood. I never tried em. Did sink a few sacks of old milo once before a bowfishin tourney to attrack carp. Still didnt win tho.
Yanno, I's just givin ya a hard time bout yer crappies. Anykinda fishin is good.
I agree, LJT. Live perch for the flatheads. Shad, cut or whole for other cats. Just my preference.

Oh, and these Habanro's are one of the hottest I have ever had too!!!!!!!!!!!
Believe me, growing and putting food away for a whole year is not something I miss anymore. It is really hard sweaty work. I do miss planting flower beds though. I will get back to doing this soon I am sure. Hm,,,,wonder what grows good out here in La, la, land??????

Oh and yes I can fish and I can bait my own hook. I was born and raised in SW Florida and spent my childhood on the boat when wknds came. Used to catch the BIG fish like Jewfish(for those who dont know it's a GIANT grouper) I wish I had some blackened grouper in the iron skillet out back right now, dayyyyyyeeeeeeeeee You shouldn't tease a woman this way

I've used chicken necks on a cane pole when I sat on the bank and caught many a gill. This ole country gal can do it too. I fish, hunt and I certainly know how to handle that 30 0 6 in the woods. I can knock a bug off a cow's a$$ when I aim. Skeered now guys? I promise ya won't even know what hit ya, won't feel a thing I'm having a good time in here today
