I was watching TLC, and they had the Duggar family on, They have 16 kids...
I worked with a Guy who had 12, and a friend of my Dad's had 13, I'm the eldest of 4, but I've never had any kids...
What is the perfect number? My Dad grew up in 5, and my mom, was an only child...

Grumble!! I just finished watching that very show!! Amazing isn't it?? I am happy with the two I have and don't wish to have anymore myself, but if I met Mr. Right and he already had kids, they'd be welcome too!

I've also seen bits and pieces of that same show, they use a mini school bus to get around!! But so much love in that family it's great. I've never had kids, even one would've been great for me. I've known people with one, and as many as 6 and all numbers in between. I admire moms and dads with any number of children, it takes hard work and undying patience, not to mention sleepless nites and stinky diapers . That's one thing I am glad I never had. My doggies go outside

Statistics say that one child is the magic number of children to have and keep your relationship happiest with your spouse.

Time never runs out for men...actually some women either. I saw a lady on the news the other day, she's a great grandma and she gave birth to a healthy baby herself. She's in her late 60's....hard to imagine but true.

Yes the number of kid's and age you have them at is subjective. I have 2 girl's and that is enough for me, I would not want any more children at age 41. I want to be be young enough to enjoy my grand children .I love my girl's but don't want to spend my whole life raising children.I will be 47 and both of my girl's will most likely be on their own. If a person want's to have kid's at older age then all the power to them. That is their choice. I just would not have the patience or desire to do that. It's a matter of personal preference.

For me 2 is perfect. But if someone came into my life that has children of his own...I would welcome them with open arms.

I have 5....
I wouldn't change it.... My oldest three are in high school, or junior high, and my 2 little one are in preschool... 3 boys, 2 girls.
The big kids keep me busy, and the little ones keep me young. And if Ms. Right had kids... well, we would be a big family, wouldn't we??? Who would have thought at nearly-40 years old, I would still be giving horsey-back rides?
I have seen that TLC show... there was a family in my neighborhood that had 14 kids.

I have two really great kiddos and I think that is perfect for me, originally, when I got married I wanted 8! I come from a family of 5. And back in the ole times (LOL!!!) when I was in High School, one of my best friends was one of 18, but you have to remember that back in the late 60's there were tons more farmers and I grew up in a rural area. Kids on the farm were welcome additions to help with chores and they had moms that usually did not go out and work so times were different. I saw the documentary on the woman in her 60s having babies. Personally, I am with China on this, I would like to be around to see them graduate from college, chances get way slimmer if you wait that long. But each has their own preference and lifestyle. I say no matter how many children you are blessed enough to have loaned to you on earth, love em to pieces and teach them well.

Agreed on the perfect number thing, not to mention the fact that some people really don't want kids, others have them that shouldn't. I gave birth to two, fostered 3 others longterm, with lots kind of 'dropping in' along the way...staying just for a few months. I always wanted four or five...my mother said that she thought the ideal for me would be about five kids, just don't bother with a husband...and that's pretty much the way it turned out!

It depends on the couple involved and what they feel comfotable with. I have 3 boys and 1 girl. And have enjoyed every minute of raising my kids. If I where to meet someone who had children at home they would be more than welcomed.

Zero! It's more fun to play with other's kids so you can put them away when you're done!

I have two children, a son and daughter. Three years apart in age. Perfect
number for me. I made the elective decision immediately after the birth of my
son, not to have anymore and so left the hospital not being able to. I have
never regretted the decision.
I do know a couple who in their mid to late forties decided to start all over again. They had twin boys who were 21, a daughter that was 19. They had two more
children after making their decision...a daughter and son. Their explanation to
every who expressed awe and surprise: "We wanted our home to always be
filled with the sound of children"...they had two, so neitherr would be alone growing
up. They now have grandchildren whose ages match their new additions. A
big happy family. It works for them.
