Ok, now from my experience, I've noticed that a lot of girls like to give hugs to people. My problem is interpreting those hugs. How can I tell the difference between a casual friend hug and an "I like you" hug.

treat it the safe way, a hug means nothing unless she whispers in your ear, and stuffs her tongue in it....

I hug my mother- you hug your mother. By now you'll be able to differentiate her hugs. Does she "hug you like a son" or "hug you like a lover"... I've never given "sexy" hugs.. in fact I limit physical contact, but I only hug family members, and I'm not about to go do it with my cousin Bodine. No one I've ever known hugs when they want to do it.. they swallow your lips with their mouth, and hump your leg. They hug when they don't want to deny you affection, but don't want to have any sexual relations with you what-so-ever.

Hugs for friends and family are usually quick and short (unless they are trying to comfort them in times when this is necessary). The "like you" hug is a bit longer and tighter.. and the arms are usually wrapped around you a little tighter than say your mom or family do.

He wants to skip being able to "read" a woman, he doesn't want to deal with "dating" he wants to go straight to the rings.
Back when I was a bridal consultant I had a 16 y/o bride. Her mother brought her in. I had to do follow up calls for bridesmaids etc, I called and asked for her. Her mother answered and said what it was in regards to and that she was the girls mother and would answer for her. A parent that answers for their child shouldn't allow them to get married. It's an insult to marriage. As well as, getting married for the sake of getting married. If you aren't responsible, don't pay for your bills, have your own place, and aren't in an adult state of mind, you aren't ready for the commitment!
If you can't read hugs you aren't ready to get married, regardless if it's being naive or not.

Oh god can you guys pelase stop jumping to all kinds of crazy conclusions?
1. I never said I want to jump straight into marriage. The whole point of my post about wanting marriage meant I'M NOT A PLAYER I WANT SERIOUSNESS. Oh god, I used the word marriage. Run in terror. It jsut meant, "I noticed most people my age don't want a serious relationship they just want to play. whats up with that"". Not "OMG you smiled at me, let's get hitched!!!"
2. Ok, it's like this. This one girl that I've known for a few weeks hugged me for like a whole minute the other night. We were just hanging out and nothing sad was happenning. We were jsut hugging for like a whole minute. Does this mean she likes me?

"No, she does not."
Now are you really serious about that or are you saying that out of spite because you think I'm an idiot?

Nah12, best advice I've read so far. I liked painter and grumblebears also. Why try to analyze everything. Geeze kid, your 18. Live life by learning yourself. Anyway, just because someone tells you that a survey gave certain results, it doesn't mean those results will apply to your or the young lady that hugged you.

Once upon a time, in a warm little corner of my heart, there lived a very special little hug. It was a very special little hug simply because it was being saved for a certain moment when it would be needed most by someone who meant the world to me...
They can be a sign of love, friendship, comfort or anything! Goodness knows we all need a hug ...

The long hug could mean that she just needed or wanted a hug from you and felt safe in doing just that. Myself, later on would ask what the long hug was about. She should be able to explain it and you can make a judgment call from there. Hugs are usually just that a hug.

There are hugs that say I like you . . .
And I hold your friendship dear.
There are hugs that say "Good Going,"
You deserve a great big cheer!
There are hugs that say "Goodbye,"
Good luck in all that lies ahead.
There are hugs that say "I love you"
When no other words are said.
There are hugs that soothe and say to us . . .
"You're free from cares and harms."
The kind of hug we feel
When God holds us within His arms.
"Hugs Are The Signature
Of A Loving Heart!!!"
