Well, you know this is the USA…and most/all of the people came here from other countries, so why not use your ancestry in searching for your “soul mate”.
I think it makes sense.

Yup! It can provide more things in common and the parents usually like it!
Unfortunately, that doesn't always make up for other incompatabilities.
I dated a Polish girl for 6 months. Everybody thought it was great, she wanted to get married, had a house, dad was well off and we usually got along fairly well. But she was too clingy, tried to rush things, too many little lies and personality changed after just a few drinks, especially around her friends. 
But I'll certainly still continue to look in that direction - nationality-wise.

People are just people…personally I’m Polish / Austrian by heritage, can drink you under the table and scare you in the same time, maybe that is why I get along so well with the Irish …

Mike, I read that and broke up.. I'm Slovenian/German and nearly everybody in the family has married an Irish man or woman. And yes, I tried really hard to get my son to go out with this really lovely girl who was also Slovenian/German...she was crazy about him too, and her family was nuts about him. Too bad he had to fall for a cute little gold digger. Damn, for a bright guy he's done some really dumb things.
