I think a majority of the people on this site are just looking for someone to talk to/are only half-serious. They're also hoping an amazingly hot person with a fantastic personality comes around, and then, and only then, will they be willing to meet. :)
Course, 'amazingly hot' is subjective...
I don't consider this a 'serious' dating site, compared to some others.

How do we really know how many matches are made when so few actually post in these forums.Distance is a huge problem for most I think,at least for me because there are few from Wisconsin that have actually been on the site in the last three months.

Of course (as you know, LSU) I've ONLY "matched" through the forums. I've NEVER been "looking" in these last 6 (??) years, but I accidently "semi-related" with a couple of hotties then accidently MEGA-matched with someone I'd been bantering with for 3 years here (then "elsewhere"), one of those "amazingly hot person with a fantastic personality" kinds ...I don't think it's ever occurred to me to actually LOOK for a sweetheart online  (an electrician or plumber, yes, but not a mate or date...ack, I'd have to shave my legs!!!  )

I'm neither looking for a match nor a good lay, every time I log onto MD. I think MD is one of the most informative, educative, fun, not to mention therapeutic, sites ever plus I'm here all time just to throw in my 0.02$
