The other day, a forum buddy contacted me to tell me her new fella's father had seen my pic and profile and was interested in corresponding with me. My mind went to futuring and considered a double hit -- or would that that be a triple? Friendship becomes family...she could be a "daughter-in-law" thanks to her.
It reminded me of another pairing which I discarded before it ever got off the ground. My sis is married to an older man with kids nearly her (and my) age. So her husband considered fixing me up with his (favorite) son. Futuring to marriage, that would have made my mother-in-law the ex-wife of my brother-in-law/father-in-law and my husband's stepmom would also be his sister-in-law.
Has anyone else considered or actually created strange relations?

I have met my new best girlfriend here (we are STRAIGHT!) We tell everyone that we met our soulmates here. Thanks MD!
I like the mother-in-law scenario though!

a friend of a friend of a friend to become a friend is a neat happening.
The bait and switch kind of sucks. Bad girls no not nice at all. lol
sure translation, simplifacation...
Its a neat discovery where you friend your friends, and for me I notice the trail of where they come from, the friend of a friend, or that random meeting.
bait and switch, when someone would introduce or say hi, make and attraction to find out they are trying to set you up with their mom, or friend.

No bait and switch here... My friend likes her fella so much she wanted to do his dad a favor -- who knows -- I may wind up her mother-in-law. Now wouldn't that be an MD success story.
Also, I like making friends with both men and women -- and just cause some guy don't want more than friendship with me or I with him, doesn't mean he wouldn't hit it off with a woman friend. I love doing a bit of matchmaking. It's spread the love, not bait and switch...
I too have found a soul sister here on MD --a woman who shares my birthday -- but I do not consider that a strange relation. I would expect perhaps a story from WV...Iowa...or Kuala Lumpur...

Though I stated my "pefect mate"'s age preference quite clearly, I keep getting contacted by much younger MD members. Maybe ,instead of just turning them down , I should ask them to introduce me to their FATHERS? .... That's quite a thought!
I think having a friend for mother-in-law is great. The girl is obviously a smart one. I mean - instead of having an enemy for this position ( quite a common case, isn't it?) ? Not sure , though, how it might feel from the mother-in-law's point of view...

your relationship is how ya see it. I ty to love everyone. hold those close near and dear those that do or are that make it difficult I hold them from afar.
I agree a strong friendly relationship that ideally should last a life time by deign is best with friendship in the heart. I dont have a father miss, yet i got and uncle or two

Heck, I do that all the time. I figure that their charm and good looks came from someone near and dear

My best friend's mother married the brother of his brother's wife. He was the brother's age, and used to date his sister.

I have never had anything like that happen. It is very hard to meet decent people. I see nothing wrong with you meeting this man. You have the benefit of having a friend knowing this man. You know a friend would never set you up with someone they did not think was nice. I say go for it and have fun.
